Best Bet (plus two)

September 16, 2010 by Steel Haven

I managed to top .500 and win my best bet by the skin of my teeth. The Dolphins kept the Bills in the game after taking a 10 point lead and dominating the first half. I thought I was going to end up with a push before the Bills took a safety on purpose with 1:32 left. They even kicked away after the safety and then got the ball back because of the ineptitude of the Dolphins offense. Luckily for me (and the Dolphins) the Bills are historically inept. The Jets offense might have been worse with second year skill position players The Sanchize and Shonn Greene performing abysmally. Antonio Cromartie and Kris Wilson also proved somewhat ineffective opposite Revis Island. Losing Kris Jenkins again for the year didnt (and isnt going) to help. My loss came at the hands of the Texans. A second straight loss picking the Colts including last seasons Super Bowl. And oh the joy I felt with Peyton Manning coming up short. Is this the end of the Colts run of double digit regular season wins? Doubtful, but fun to contemplate.

I'm again going for three road teams. Can't help myself. I am on vacation this week with limited internet access so comments are sparse.

Best Bet

New England Patriots (-2.5) over New York Jets

The Sanchize and Shonn Greene look lost. Can't see the Pats not winning by at least a field goal.

Others

Kansas City Chiefs (+2.0) over Cleveland Browns

Got to take advantage any time you can get points against the Browns no matter who the opponent or where the game is played. Losing Jake Delhomme to inury would be a benefit to the other 31 teams. Unfortunately for the Browns their backup is Seneca Wallace.

Philadelphia Eagles (-6) over Detriot Lions

Michael Vick is infinitely better than Shaun Hill. Even though I am not a Vick fan. And Kevin Kolb and Matt Stafford are definitely out. The Jamal Jackson injury makes me nervous given the improvement to the Lions defensive front four. Just not nervous enough.

Last Week

Miami Dolphins (-3.0) over Buffalo Bills WIN

Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) over Houston Texans LOSS

Baltimore Ravens (+2.5) over New York Jets WIN

Year to date: 2-1   Best bets: 1-0
