Hard Hat Award (Game #14, vs.
Stillers QB Benji Roethlisberger is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
In one of the greatest single-game performances ever by a Stillers QB, Ben single-handedly willed his team to victory with a team-record 503 yards passing. While nearly the entire rest of the team wallowed around with dropped passes, missed blocks, shoddy tackling, foolish penalties, and careless mistakes, Benji stood tall, like a rock, and kept firing from the hip up until, and past, the final gun. With just 3 seconds remaining in the game, with the Stillers down by 6, Ben calmly stood in the pocket, then fired a laser to the end zone where Mike Wallace was on the only player on either team with a chance to haul in the pass. Wally did, with just a millimeter to spare, for a 19-yard TD. This certainly will go down in Stillers lore as one of the wildest, most thrilling game-winning scores in Stiller history.
Kudos to Roethlisberger for winning the Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Benji !
