Hard Hat Award (Game #11, vs. Dolphins)
Stiller SS Tyrone Sawed Off Carter is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
Carter, starting in the place of Troy Polamalu, had a tough, stellar effort in the narrow win over the Fish on the mud and sludge of Heinz Cow Pasture. He actually led the defense with 11 solos. And, unlike some strong safeties that are prone to mindless flailing and gimpy-assed diving at nothing but air, Carter show good, heady ,crisp tackling on both running plays and after pass receptions. This is the kind of tackling that has been sorely lacking lately, and it was refreshing to see amidst the slopfest on Monday nite.
Honorable mention goes to FS Tony Smith, who knocked RB J. Chatman out of the game with a punishing hit at the end of a 10-yarrd run.
Kudos to Carter for winning the Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Ty !
