Power Rankings (week 5)

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. Green Bay Packers 4-0 Saying they won with defense in Santa Clara while technically true doesn't take into account the dumpster fire that is the Niners offense.
2. 2. New England Patriots 3-0 Didn't really need the early bye.
3. 4. Denver Broncos 4-0 Defense leads league with 18 sacks, has forced 11 turnovers.
4. 5. Cincinnati Bengals 4-0 Undefeated through the first quarter of the season for the first time in a decade.
5. 6. Carolina Panthers 4-0 Last year won their 4th game in week 14, made the playoffs anyway.
6. 8. Atlanta Falcons 4-0 The only team left on the schedule that currently has a winning record is the Panthers.
7. 3. Arizona Cardinals 3-1 Palmer hadn't lost as a starter since the last game of '13.
8. 9. Seattle Seahawks 2-2 Haven't allowed a TD the last 2 weeks.
9. 14. New York Jets 3-1 Trade of late round pick for Marshall proving to be an incredible bargain, at least when he doesn't try to lateral.
10. 15. Indianapolis Colts 2-2 Don't lose to division opponents.
11. 21. New York Giants 2-2 Return of coordinator Spagnuolo has been a success despite lack of defensive playmakers.
12. 18. San Diego Chargers 2-2 Overcame decimated offensive line, receiver corps with help of Browns mistakes.
13. 12. Minnesota Vikings 2-2 Different team at home and on the road.
14. 22. Baltimore Ravens 1-3 Saved season in second half in Pittsburgh thanks to Tucker, even more so Scobee.
15. 7. Pittsburgh Steelers 2-2 Blew a 13 point second half lead giving life to a formerly winless bitter division rival in prime time causing me to drink copious amounts of bourbon. Friday was not a good day.
16. 10. Buffalo Bills 2-2 On pace to commit 232 penalties, single season record is 158 by the Chiefs in '98.
17. 11. Dallas Cowboys 2-2 Yet to win without Romo, things don't get easier with visit from Pats.
18. 25. Washington Redskins 2-2 Both wins have come when Cousins didn't commit a turnover, something he has done in only 3 of his 13 career starts.
19. 26. St. Louis Rams 2-2 Could Gurley, Austin provide the offensive explosiveness lacking previously in the Fisher era?
20. 13. Philadelphia Eagles 1-3 Proving what everyone should have already known.... talent wins, not scheme.
21. 16. Oakland Raiders 2-2 Del Rio has a tough task facing the defense he helped build in Denver.
22. 17. Miami Dolphins 1-3 Defense allowed over 400 total yards each of the last 2 weeks. Philbin paid with his job, not sure how Coyle is still employed (as of Wednesday morning anyway, this could still change).
23. 19. Kansas City Chiefs 1-3 Santos set a franchise record with 7 field goals in 7 attempts, alas those were their only points.
24. 31. New Orleans Saints 1-3 Finally got a win with 80 yard TD pass to Spiller on the second play of OT.
25. 20. Houston Texans 1-3 Knew QB was going to be a problem. What happened to the defense?
26. 23. Jacksonville Jaguars 1-3 Bortles was 6 years old when Hasselbeck was drafted by the Packers.
27. 24. San Francisco 49ers 1-3 Dead last in the league in points scored. Still trying to figure out how Baalke won power struggle over Harbaugh.
28. 32. Chicago Bears 1-3 Rushed Cutler back and got their first win.
29. 29. Cleveland Browns 1-3 Offsides on missed field goal with time running out, suffered brutal loss on subsequent kick.
30. 30. Tennessee Titans 1-2 Can they make a move returning from bye with 3 straight home games?
31. 27. Detriot Lions 0-4 Last remaining winless team in part due to a blown call late in Seattle when Wright clearly, illegally batted ball out of end zone.
32. 28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-3 Can't be pleased with Winston's poor decision making throwing 4 interceptions last week.
