Smitters Week 1 Picks:
Here I am, back for a second season of picking the games
against the spread here on Stillers.com. Last year wasnt so good. My regular
season mark was 124-132, 48.4%. My playoff record was even worse, 5-6 45.4%.
Better luck this year. My First Look Goodies (FLG) was better, 27-24, 52.9%,
about breaking even with the bettors. My FLGs are the 2 or 3 games a week,
that when looking at the pointspreads for the first time seem like good bets.
Pittsburgh (-1 ) over Miami Even
without Ben, in front of 68,000 wild, crazy, drunk, Stiller fans, Batch and the
defense will do enough to win. Prediction a rookie scores a TD.
St Louis (+ 3 ) over Denver I like
most home underdogs in the first week or so of the season. With the game on turf,
I like St Louis in this one.
Tennessee (- 2 ) over N.Y. Jets For no
reason other than I dont think Chad Pennington will ever be a productive QB.
New England (- 9 ) over Buffalo Buffalo
could be in for a long season.
Tampa Bay (- 3 ) over Baltimore Steve
McNair will last about two and a half quarters before getting hurt.
Kansas City (- 2 ) over Cincinnati Larry
Johnson may run for close to 200 yards in this one. Lets see just how well
Palmers knee is in a real game.
Detroit (+ 6 ) over Seattle I think
this game is a few points too high. Detroit hangs tough at home against the
Super Bowl losers.
Carolina (- 6 ) over Atlanta Michael
Vick in for a long day.
Houston (+ 4 ) over Philadelphia
Houston, at least for a week, gives the home crowd something to be excited
over.
Cleveland ( - 3 ) over New Orleans The
Browns actually favored???? Reggie Bush excites the Dog Pound, but not enough
for a Saints victory.
Dallas (+ 2 ) over Jacksonville Bledsoe
and TO get along at least for a week.
Green Bay (+ 3 ) over Chicago Green
Bay looked putrid in the pre-season. Chicago still cant score.
Arizona (- 7 ) over San Francisco
Revamped Cardinals offense runs wild on San Fran defense.
NY Giants (+ 3 ) over Indianapolis Eli
wins Round 1 of the Manning Bowl. Peyton got to wait 4 years for rematch.
Washington (- 4 ) over Minnesota
Washington begins what it hopes is a run at the NFC East title with a fairly
easy (early) Monday Night win against the Vikings.
San Diego (- 3 ) over Oakland Philip
Rivers off to a winning start against the woeful Raiders in the (late) Monday
Night game.
