.1.Chicago Bears6-0Two interception returns and a punt return in the final 16 minutes erased a 20 point deficit and kept them undefeated going into the bye. They have to be a bit concerned about the play of Grossman and the vaunted defense away from Soldier Field.
.2.Indianapolis Colts5-0Traded a second rounder for McFarland at the deadline in an attempt to replace Simon.
.3.Denver Broncos4-1Defense has only allowed one touchdown in five games.
.11.San Diego Chargers4-1Schottenheimer has taken the shackles off Rivers after conservative playcalling cost them in Baltimore. The results have been impressive.
.5.New England Patriots4-1Seems like they have already clinched the AFC East.
.7.Seattle Seahawks4-1Overcame the absence of Alexander and took control of the NFC West with a big last second win in St. Louis. Think Arizona wishes their kicker was Brown and not Rackers?
.14.New Orleans Saints5-1Deserve more respect than I have been giving them.
.12.Carolina Panthers4-2Winless to start the season without Smith. Undefeated in the last four with Smith. Nothing mysterious about what makes this offense effective.
.9.Jacksonville Jaguars3-2Season ending injuries to Hayward and now Peterson have to take a toll on the defense.
.4.Philadelphia Eagles4-2Losing to a 5-1 team on the road is no disgrace. Even when that team is the Saints.
.6.Cincinnati Bengals3-2Interior offensive line has become a big problem.
.8.Baltimore Ravens4-2Billick decided to make Fassel a scapegot for the offense's woes. The problems really center around the declining play of McNair, Lewis, Ogden and the rest of the offensive line.
.15.New York Giants3-2Manning, Burress and Shockey get the press. Barber and Jacobs win the games.
.16.Dallas Cowboys3-2TO got into the endzone three times which should stop his complaining for at least a week. Maybe..
.18.Pittsburgh Steelers2-3Roethlisberger's return to form was the big story against the Chiefs. And rightfully so.... But don't forget the defense. Especially the run defense. In the past two weeks they have held Tomlinson and LJ to a combined 63 yards rushing.
.10.Atlanta Falcons3-2Beaten at their own game. The Giants pounded them into submission on the ground.
.13.St. Louis Rams4-2Have to be kicking themselves after blowing a golden opportunity to take sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
.17.Minnesota Vikings3-2Made it through the bye week with no arrests. A definite improvement over last season.
.22.New York Jets3-3In danger of losing a 17 point fourth quarter lead until Mare missed a game tying 51 yard field goal as time expired. Victories over the Lions and Browns before the bye could make things very interesting for the other tenant of Giants Stadium.
.19.Kansas City Chiefs2-3Embarrased in Pittsburgh by a fired up Steelers team eager to end their three game losing streak. Need to rebound quickly with the Chargers coming to town and the season on the brink of collapse.
.20.Washington Redskins2-4Consecutive losses to the Giants and Titans have them reeling. Defense has given up 755 yards in the last two weeks. Things are unlikely to improve with a trip to Indianapolis next on the docket.
.21.Buffalo Bills2-4Jauron's homecoming tour of Chicago and Detroit did not go as planned.
.23.San Fransisco 49ers2-4Not in the same class as the Chargers. Not a surprise.
.28.Tampa Bay Buccaneers1-4Final drive aided by a roughing the passer call against Smith. Winning touchdown on fourth down was originally ruled incompletele before being overturned. The touchdown should definitely have counted. The roughing the passing penalty was ridiculous.
.25.Cleveland Browns1-4Carthon is on the hot seat and could conceivably be the third offensive coordinator to lose his job in-season.
.26.Arizona Cardinals1-5Green blew a gasket after they somehow managed to blow a 20 point lead with just over 15 minutes remaining despite the best efforts of Leinart. This was accomplished without giving up an offensive touchdown. Former Steeler Kruczek was an unlikely beneficiary of the debacle after being promoted on Tuesday from QB coach to coordinator.
.27.Green Bay Packers1-4Favre plays out the string in the frozen tundra as no deal emerges at the deadline.
.30.Detriot Lions1-5Euphoria of the AL Championship Series sweep by the Tigers on Saturday carried over to Sunday with Leyland in attendance.
.31.Tennessee Titans1-5Young got his first win as a starter with a big assist from Henry.
.24.Houston Texans1-4Averaging a league worst 67.6 yards rushing per game.
.29.Miami Dolphins1-5Mularkey continues to prove that he is an offensive genius. Just kidding.
.32.Oakland Raiders0-5Just win baby.
