Power Rankings (week 2)

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. New England Patriots 2-0 Turn to rookie Brissett after shoulder injury to Garoppolo. Just need to make it through 2 more games without Brady.
2. 4. Pittsburgh Steelers 2-0 Travel across the state for the undefeated battle of Pennsylvania. Losers of 8 straight in Philly, last time the Black and Gold won in the City of Brotherly Love the president was LBJ.
3. 5. Denver Broncos 2-0 Siemian may only be along for the ride with dominant defense, but already looks better than Peyton and at least as good as Osweiler last season.
4. 7. Carolina Panthers 1-1 Size of Olsen, Benjamin and Funchess nearly impossible to defend.
5. 8. Arizona Cardinals 1-1 Only 7 receivers in league history have caught as many or more career TD passes as Fitzgerald. Hail to Pitt!
6. 10. Houston Texans 2-0 Nice timing traveling to Foxboro on a short work week with neither Brady nor Garoppolo available.
7. 11. Minnesota Vikings 2-0 Bradford was the 13th different QB that has started a game with Purple Jesus. A different back is going to start Bradford's second game after Purple Jesus suffered a torn meniscus.
8. 3. Green Bay Packers 1-1 Rodgers seems out of sorts, was actually out played by Bradford.
9. 6. Cincinnati Bengals 1-1 Boyd appeared clearly down before fumble on final drive behind by 8. Somehow the ruling on the field stood.
10. 13. New York Giants 2-0 Both wins are by 3 points or less. Last year they lost 5 of 6 decided by 3 points or less.
11. 2. Seattle Seahawks 1-1 Scored a single TD so far this season. Wilson did not look right trying to play with a high ankle sprain.
12. 9. Kansas City Chiefs 1-1 Smith needs to play with the urgency he did when way behind against the Chargers. When in close games or ahead he has a penchant for check downs and low yards per attempt averages.
13. 15. New York Jets 1-1 Probably need to lighten the workload on 31 year old Forte. He's gotten 59 touches in 2 games.
14. 16. Baltimore Ravens 2-0 Blocked extra point returned for 2 points down 20-0 in the first quarter. Then scored 23 more unanswered points. Gotta love playing the Brownies.
15. 21. Philadelphia Eagles 2-0 Wentz is the first rookie QB since the merger to start and win his first 2 games without committing a turnover.
16. 22. Dallas Cowboys 1-1 A tale of two rookies. Dak out playing his fourth round status, Elliot a first round disappointment so far.
17. 14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-1 Haven't won their first 2 games since 2010.
18. 26. Atlanta Falcons 1-1 Ryan the only QB so far this season averaging double digit yards per pass attempt (exactly 10.0).
19. 12. Oakland Raiders 1-1 Legitimate contenders do not lose their home opener to the Falcons.
20. 30. San Diego Chargers 1-1 Got off to a lead of 20 or more points for a second straight week, this time kept the pedal to the metal. Victory was costly with Woodhead being lost to a torn ACL a week after Allen suffered the same injury.
21. 31. Tennessee Titans 1-1 Scored 13 unanswered fourth quarter points in Detroit to overcome a 12 point deficit.
22. 17. Detriot Lions 1-1 Stafford had gone 212 passes without an interception before being picked off at mid-field with 28 seconds remaining down by a point.
23. 18. Indianapolis Colts 0-2 Was Luck's early career success based on Arians' offense? The Grigson/Pagano era post Arians has not been pretty.
24. 19. Washington Redskins 0-2 Made right move tagging Cousins to give him another year to show what he can do instead of signing him long term. Public reports of locker room descension concerning QB play obviously a poor early sign.
25. 20. Jacksonville Jaguars 0-2 Bradley already looks like a dead man walking.
26. 23. Miami Dolphins 0-2 Slight downgrade in competition with Browns visiting South Beach after trips to Seattle and Foxboro.
27. 25. New Orleans Saints 0-2 Can't blame the defense for last week. Eli and the Giants were kept out of the end zone. Brees and company managed to put up only 13 points and special teams allowed a blocked FG to be returned for a TD.
28. 28. San Francisco 49ers 1-1 Second to last in the league in yards per play (4.4) and yards per pass attempt (5.8) ahead of only the Rams in both.
29. 29. Los Angeles Rams 1-1 First game back in LA a surprising success. Still haven't gotten into the end zone this season. Need someone to win a game without scoring a TD, Fisher is your man.
30. 27. Chicago Bears 0-2 Purge of offensive skill position talent by Pace and Fox the last 2 off season's is coming back to haunt them.
31. 24. Buffalo Bills 0-2 Ridiculously scapegoated offensive coordinator Roman after only 2 games.
32. 32. Cleveland Browns 0-2 Forced to start at least 3 QBs for the fourth straight season. Reminder.... it's only week 3. Reports indicate McCown's shoulder injury is serious. RGIII injury if anything actually helped the offense. Downgrade to rookie Kessler is steep.
