Holmes Wins Weekly Hard Hat Award (Game #15, @ Cinci)
Stiller ILB Earl Holmes is the winner of my weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
The Hit Man had 8 solos and 1 assist in the teams lethargic loss to Cinci. Although many teammates on both sides of the ball may have been playing at less than full speed at times, Holmes came ready to play and had strong game in run support. The Earl of Hit also jarred the ball loose from RB Corey Dillon with a sterling play, in which Holmes fought through a block and then laid the wood on Dillon, thus causing the fumble. This kind of hard-nosed play is what the Hard Hat is all about, and is what makes the Hard Hat Award the coveted award that it is.
Kudos to Earl for winning the weekly Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Earl !!
