Smitters Week 10 Picks vs the spread

Last week: 3-11 Overall: 61-69 46.9%

FLGs last week: 1-2FLGs overall: 12-15 44.4%

How does the NFL choose when teams get their bye week? Shouldnt it all even out every few years? One year your bye is in the first few weeks, one year it is in the middle of the bye process, and one year towards the end? Well, counting this year, the Broncos have had their bye week in Week 9, Week 10, Week 10, Week 9, Week 15, and Week 9. Meanwhile, the Steelers have had their byes in Weeks 4, 7, 7, 3, 2, and 2. The Broncs average is in week 10.3, heck, the Steelers havent had a bye any of their byes that late and average is week 4.2. Maybe if I have some time, Ill compare every teams bye weeks.

Cleveland (+ 8 ) over Steelers For the first time in a long time, Im picking against the Steelers. I think this has the potential to be every bit as sloppy and ugly as last weeks game, plus, for the Brownies, this would make their season. I hope Im wrong.

Buffalo (- 2 ) over Kansas City Buffalo is 3-2 after their bye week, but playing at home after their bye, they got to figure that a 3 or 4 game winning streak might just get them in the race for the divisional crown.

Tampa Bay (+ 1 ) over Washington Both teams need a win to keep pace in their division, maybe Tampa more so than Washinton. Bucs defense is just a tad better than Washingtons.

Miami (+ 3 ) over New England Miami always plays New England tough at home. Miami can claim a tie for first with a win.

San Francisco (+ 13 ) over Chicago I think Chicago will win, but even at 5-3, I dont think the Bears will win by 13 points.

Minnesota (+ 9 ) over NY Giants Vikings showed a little life last week with Brad Johnson at QB. Vikes at 3-5 arent out of the playoff race in the wild, wacky NFC North.

Detroit (- 4 ) over Arizona Arizona isnt a good road team. Detroit is still playing for the division title.

Jacksonville (- 6 ) over Baltimore I doubt Kyle Boller makes a difference. Jacksonville needs a win, and against the lifeless Ravens, it shouldnt be too difficult this week.

Houston (+ 17 ) over Indianapolis The Colts have a little bit of a down after the convincing win on Monday. Houston played them tough the first game, I look for the same thing this week.

Carolina (- 9 ) over NY Jets Carolina may be the hottest team in the league this side of Indy. I dont think it matters who is QBing for the Jets, Bollinger, Vinnie, or Joe Willie couldnt help right this ship.

Oakland (+ 3 ) over Denver Denver 4-1 after bye weeks, but going into Oakland and playing an improved Raiders team will be too much for the Broncos.

St Louis (+ 6 ) over Seattle The Rams can pull within a game of the Seahawks with a win. Week off helps the Rams. (3-2 after their bye weeks, but one loss was a 16- point win when they were 17 point favorites).

Green Bay (+ 9 ) over Atlanta Green Bay sucks, but they are losing close games. Even at home, I dont expect the Falcons to cover.

Philadelphia (- 3 ) over Dallas Dallas is 2-3 after bye weeks. Eagles need to win, and the home crowd spurs them on this week on Monday night.

My First Look Goodies (FLG) for the week are:

Tampa Bay (+ 1 ) over Washington

Detroit (- 4 ) over Arizona

Carolina (- 9 ) over NY Jets
