Bell Wins Weekly Hard Hat Award (Game #6, vs. Tenn.)

Stiller ILB Kendrell Bell is the winner of my weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.

The rookie LB from UGA, playing in a Halloween atmosphere on Monday nite against the Titans, had another demonic, terrorizing effort that would have made even Jason Vorhees proud. Bell led the team with 8 solos, and set the tone with several bone-jarring hits. In fact, late in the 1st quarter, Bell's helmet got broken while entangled with a Titan lineman on George's run to the 3-yard line, in which DeWayne hit George low and sent George spinning like a pinwheel to the ground. Despite not being able to buckle his helmet, Bell remained in the game, and on the very next play run-blitzed into the Titan backfield and dropped RB Mike Green for a 2-yard loss. That's exactly the kind of hard-hitting, disregard-for-one's-own-health that is what the Hard Hat Award is all about. Later in the 2nd quarter, Bell mauled George with a crushing tackle that left George scared and dazed. In all, this was another strong, hard-hitting effort by the man who should be the front-runner for the AFC Rookie of the Year award.

Kudos to Kendrell for winning the weekly Hard Hat Award for the 2nd time this season. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Kendrell !!
