Hard
Hat Award (Game #14, @ Carolina)
Stiller DE Brett Keisel and OT Max Starks are the winners of
the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best
embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the
blast furnace of a still mill.
Keisel was a hound dog on Sunday, demonizing the Carolina
offense with constant pressure and continuous clogging of running lanes. He constantly harassed the QB, whipped past
blockers, and stuffed the Panther ground game.
Starks had the tough task of facing all-world Julius
Peppers, and all Maxwell did was grind Peppers down like a pepper. He shoved Peppers to and fro, and only when
Peppers rush up the gut did he have any pressure on the QB. The running game routinely ran at and around
The Pepper with ease, and Starks easily held his own against the vaunted pass
rush of The Pepper.
Suffice it to say, there were others that warranted
consideration for the coveted Hard Hat Award. No doubt about it, there is a direct correlation
between the amount of Hard Hat style of play seen in a given
game, and the resulting "W" or "L" afterwards.
Kudos to Keisel and Starks for winning the Hard Hat
Award. Wear the Hard Hat
proudly, fellas!
