RnkLWTeamRecordComments
.2.Indianapolis Colts8-0Last remaining undefeated team. Consecutive victories on the road over the Broncos and Patriots means the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC will more than likely again go through Indianapolis. That has not really helped them in the past.
.7.Denver Broncos6-2Walker gives them the explosive offensive playmaker that they have been lacking.
.3.New England Patriots6-2Belichick tried to beat the Colts at their own game instead of attacking their weak run defense and keeping Manning off the field. The plan backfired. Brady threw 4 interception and they could not recover.
.4.New York Giants6-2Injuries to Strahan and Umenyiora pose a serious problem.
.5.San Diego Chargers6-2Got a win without Merriman. Only 3 more games to go.
.1.Chicago Bears7-1Home loss to the Dolphins was a shock. Need to do a better job of holding on to the ball. Their 17 turnovers are tied for the fifth highest total in the NFL.
.8.Baltimore Ravens6-2Should be able to coast to the division title with a remaining schedule against opponents that currently have a combined record of 25-39.
.9.New Orleans Saints6-2Henderson's return gives Brees another weapon.
.12.Jacksonville Jaguars5-3Garrard upped his career record to 6-1 as a starter. Del Rio has confirmed that he will keep the job. Likely for the rest of the season as Leftwich's ankle is allowed time to fully heal.
.6.Atlanta Falcons5-3Need to figure out a way to keep Abraham healthy. Without him the defense is not the same.
.13.Kansas City Chiefs5-3LJ for MVP.
.15.Seattle Seahawks5-3Managing to hang on without Hasselbeck and Alexander.
.10.Cincinnati Bengals4-4Fell to a disappointing quatro y quatro. Ocho Cinco es el stinko.
.11.Dallas Cowboys4-4Lost in brutal and unexpected fashion (see comments for the Redskins). The disaster was actually set up in the first quarter when Parcells idiotically went for 2 with the score at 6-5. After the game Parcells tried to absolve himself by blaming the chart. Even more idiotic. Decisions on whether to go for 2 based on the score need to be made in the last 20 or so minutes. Not the first quarter. Parcells got what he deserved.
.16.Carolina Panthers4-4Tendency to play up or down to their opponents talent level made for a wildly inconsistent first half.
.17.Philadelphia Eagles4-4Can not afford to have the losing streak continue with the Redskins coming to town.
.14.Minnesota Vikings4-4Need some offensive playmakers. Badly.
.18.St. Louis Rams4-4Need some defensive playmakers. Badly.
.19.New York Jets4-4Loss in Cleveland before the bye likely dashed their playoff hopes.
.25.Washington Redskins3-5Looked like a sure loser as Vanderjagt lined up for a 35 yard field goal attempt with 6 seconds remaining. The kick was blocked. A facemask penalty was called on the return of the block to extended the game for an untimed down. Then Novak snuck a 47 yarder just inside the right upright.
.26.Buffalo Bills3-5Losman threw for only 102 yards on 8 completions. He was sacked 5 times. The key was that he didn't turn over the ball. The same can't be said of Favre.
.20.Green Bay Packers3-5Outgained the Bills by 243 yards and lost in large part due to a -4 turnover differential. Sounds like the Steelers.
.21.Pittsburgh Steelers2-6Lost again despite dominating the stat sheet. Committed 6 more turnovers includng a remarkable 5 in the red zone. There is really nothing else to say.
.27.San Fransisco 49ers3-5Struggling defense got the perfect tonic. A game against the Vikings stagnant offense.
.32.Miami Dolphins2-6Defense came up big against the previously undefeated Bears. Especially Taylor.
.22.Tampa Bay Buccaneers2-6Last Monday night it was Oakland. This Monday night it's the Bucs. The NFL is not doing ESPN any favors.
.30.Detriot Lions2-6Kept the Falcons running game in check despite missing 3 starting defensive linemen.
.23.Tennessee Titans2-6Playing for the future. Whether Fisher is part of that future is an open question with his contract set to expire and no talk of an extension.
.24.Cleveland Browns2-6Going into the season with only Frye, Anderson and Dorsey at the quarterback position looks foolish is retrospect.
.29.Houston Texans2-6Decision to take Williams over Bush is starting to look better.
.28.Oakland Raiders2-6Actually had 87 more yards of offense in the Monday night debacle in Seattle than they had the week before against the Steelers. More proof of the importance of turnovers.
.31.Arizona Cardinals1-7Green survived the bye week. Don't expect him to survive past this season.
