Maybe things are looking up. Yes, I remain winless in my best bets. At least I did not ruin the Cardinals season. They rebounded from an awful start to win in OT. No cover of course. Not that they care. I did manage to easily cover on my other two bets.
I am again being enticed by road favorites. Any other week I would have probably made the Bears (-5.0) in Jacksonville my best bet. I'll lay off since they are travelling on a short work week after a road game on Monday night. A traditionally difficult scenario. The Packers (-7.0) in Indianapolis was also very tempting. I am just not sure how the Colts will respond in the short term to Chuck Pagano's illness. Unprecedented situations scare me. So I ended up with a pair of road favorites and a winner for me from last week as a road favorite returning home. We'll see what happens.

Best Bet
Baltimore Ravens (-5.0) over Kansas City Chiefs
How can GM Scott Pioli survive this debacle? Romeo Crennel sports the same deer in the headlights look on the sideline as he had in Cleveland. Some coaches like him and Wade Phillips are simply best suited as coordinators. The Chiefs are -48 in point differential. Playing in Arrowhead no longer seems to matter as they are winless at home. Their only victory came over the reeling, coach-less Saints. The Ravens are a well rounded, balanced team. If I am going to jinx someone it might as well be them.
Others
Houston Texans (-8.0) over New York Jets
The Jets were eviscerated at home last week against the 49ers. Darelle Revis and Santonio Holmes are done for the year. Stephen Hill is unlikely to be ready to return. The remaining offensive weapons are offensive. Mark Sanchez has been awful. Tim Tebow a non-factor. The Texans may be the only team in the league better than San Francisco. Hard to envision the Jets season not continuing to spiral completely out of control.
Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) over Miami Dolphins
The Bengals return home after getting me a win last week in Jacksonville. Andy Dalton continues to impress and AJ Green has been a man among boys. The Dolphins play hard for Joe Philbin. My expectation that they would have an off week in Arizona proved wrong although they couldn’t hold on for the win. Having to go on the road again after a trip west is not easy.
