Power Rankings (week 6)

October 10, 2007 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. New England Patriots 5-0 Next up for Moss. A visit to Dallas against Owens in a battle of unbeatens. Should be fun.
2. 2. Indianapolis Colts 5-0 James, Addai or Keith? Harrison or Gonzalez? Sanders? Doesn't seem to matter. Peyton just keeps winning games. Perception has definitely changed since Manning got his ring.
3. 3. Dallas Cowboys 5-0 Got incredibly lucky in Buffalo despite Romo turning the ball over 6 times.
4. 6. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-1 Roethlisberger doesn't turn the ball over. They win. Simple.
5. 7. Tennessee Titans 3-1 Tried hard to give the game away with turnovers and poor special teams play. Luckily they were playing the Falcons.
6. 8. Jacksonville Jaguars 3-1 Have been served well by Garrard's ability to protect the ball.
7. 4. Green Bay Packers 4-1 Favre fell back into the bad habit of throwing interceptions at the wrong time. That has to stop for them to keep winning.
8. 9. Baltimore Ravens 3-2 Defense no longer seems able to overcome supposed genius Billick's inabilty to develop an offense.
9. 13. New York Giants 3-2 Burress is the one free agent the Steelers let get away that they should have tried harder to keep.
10. 5. Seattle Seahawks 3-2 Complete failure to compete in Pittsburgh is not really an issue against the sub par competition in the NFC West.
11. 14. Carolina Panthers 3-2 Delhomme's decision to have surgery gives Carr the opportunity to prove his past struggles were more a function of the Texans inability to develop talent around him than his own short comings. Should be interesting.
12. 16. Arizona Cardinals 3-2 Warner is now the full time starter after Leinart suffered a broken collarbone.
13. 18. Washington Redskins 3-1 Decision to deal into the first round for Campbell is starting to pay off.
14. 19. San Diego Chargers 2-3 Explosion in Denver only makes their slow start harder to understand.
15. 20. Chicago Bears 2-3 Surprising touchdown pass from Griese to Clark saved their season. Still can not afford to take another step backwards.
16. 10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-2 Not in the same class as the Colts. Not exactly a surprise.
17. 21. Houston Texans 3-2 Former Steeler Brown became the first kicker in history to make 3 field goals of 54 yards or longer in a game. His 57 yarder won the contest.
18. 11. Denver Broncos 2-3 Suffered the worst home loss in franchise history at the hands of a previously struggling divisional foe. Lucky to have 2 wins.
19. 12. Detriot Lions 3-2 Winless against the Redskins in Washington in 21 tries since 1937. Even Millen can't be blamed for that record of futility.
20. 15. San Fransisco 49ers 2-3 Smith proved his worth more by sitting than playing. Can not afford to have Dilfer starting too many more games.
21. 17. Kansas City Chiefs 2-3 Last year LJ managed to overcome the lack of offensive line talent. Not so far this season.
22. 22. Philadelphia Eagles 1-3 An early disappointment that needs to get things going after the bye.
23. 23. New York Jets 1-4 Can not afford Pennington throwing 5 interceptions in 2 weeks.
24. 24. Cincinnati Bengals 1-3 Defense should be able to rebound against the Chiefs. Defense needs to rebound against the Chiefs.
25. 25. Oakland Raiders 2-2 Come off the bye alone in first place in the AFC West.
26. 26. Cleveland Browns 2-3 No shame in losing to the Patriots.
27. 27. New Orleans Saints 0-4 The magic is gone.
28. 28. Buffalo Bills 1-4 Hard to believe they couldn't beat the Cowboys at home despite scoring 2 touchdowns on interception returns and a touchdown on a kick return.
29. 29. Atlanta Falcons 1-4 Time to see what Leftwich can do.....
30. 30. Minnesota Vikings 1-3 Childress appears overmatched.
31. 31. St. Louis Rams 0-5 Not sure which is the bigger problem. Injuries or the ineptitude of Linehan and Haslett.
32. 32. Miami Dolphins 0-5 Cameron is again proving to be what he was at Indiana University. A poor man's Turner. Great offensive coordinator. Just not a head coach.
