2015 NFL Mock Draft, v4.0

April 29, 2015 by Steel Haven

Round 1

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

QB Jameis Winston - Florida St

A match made of expediency. Winston simply has better size, arm strength and most importantly accuracy than anyone else in this class. His passion for football and work ethic on the field are not in question. Malcolm Glazer's daughter Darcie Glazer Kassewitz might not be happy about making Winston the face of the franchise because of off the field issues. The decision seems to have been made quite a while ago. Despite the recent civil suit filed against Winston there apparently hasn't been anything dug up in an incredibly thorough, detailed background check to facilitate a change.
    • Needs: QB, DE, OT/G, S, RB, CB
    • Other Options: QB M Mariota, trade down
    .
  2. Tennessee Titans

    QB Marcus Mariota - Oregon

Indications are this pick will be kept and used on Mariota. Despite effusive praise from the front office and coaching staff Zach Mettenberger looks more like a solid career backup than legitimate starter. Any package put together by the Jets, Browns or Eagles seems likely to come up short. Ken Whisenhunt and coordinator Jason Michael are apparently willing to tailor the offense to the uniquely skilled Mariota despite their lack of job security.
    • Needs: QB, RT/G, RB, NT/DE, WR, ILB
    • Hope might be available: QB J Winston
    • Other Options: DE/DT L Williams, trade down
    .
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars

    DE/OLB Dante Fowler - Florida

GM David Caldwell shocked the world last year with the pick of Blake Bortles. Could he have something up his sleeve again? Probably not. Jared Odrick was signed to play 5-technique end in Gus Bradley's defense. What's still missing is a pass rusher to fill the hybrid LEO position. Fowler is a versatile, explosive edge presence with a solid frame and long arms. He looks like a perfect fit.
    • Needs: DE/OLB, FS, RB, M/WLB, WR, C/G
    • Other Options: WR A Cooper, WR K White, DE/DT L Williams
    .
  4. Oakland Raiders

    DT Leonard Williams - USC

Dan Williams was signed to play on the nose. Leonard Williams fits beside him as a penetrating 3-technique to provide interior pressure. There are obviously worse ideas than taking the top non-QB available regardless of position with talent desperately needed on both sides of the ball. This might be giving GM Reggie McKenzie too much credit.
    • Needs: DE, WR, RT/G, DT, CB, S
    • Hope might be available: DE D Fowler
    • Other Options: DE V Beasley, WR A Cooper, WR K White
    .
  5. Washington Redskins

    OLB Vic Beasley - Clemson

So far through five picks no changes have been made to my last psuedo seriousnon-trade mock draft except for comments. Perhaps I am too set in my ways. Brian Orakpo left via free agency. Replacement Trent Murphy is more of a steady presence, not an explosive playmaker off the edge. Depth is non-existent. Beasley provides athleticism and burst despite a lack of prototypical length.
    • Needs: RT/G, LB, FS, CB, RB, WR
    • Hope might be available: OLB D Fowler
    • Other Options: WR A Cooper, RT/G B Scherff, WR J White, trade down
    .
  6. New York Jets

    OLB Alvin Dupree - Kentucky

New GM Mike Maccagnan did a solid job filling holes in free agency. Clearly the biggest need remains quarterback, unfortunately addressing the situation won't be easy. Mariota isn't falling into their laps and the second tier QB prospects are shots in the dark at best. The defense of new coach Todd Bowles relies on an edge pass rush. By the end of last season Dupree's 23.5 career sacks were the most by any active SEC player. His incredible athleticism was on display at the combine with a 42" vertical leap and 4.56 40.
    • Needs: QB, RT/G, OLB, RB, S, WR
    • Hope might be available: OLB V Beasley, OLB D Fowler, QB M Mariota
    • Other Options: WR A Cooper, RT/G B Schreff, WR K White
    .
  7. Chicago Bears

    WR Amari Cooper - Alabama

They have bigger needs on defense and the offensive line even after trading Brandon Marshall. As said before with the Raiders pick of Williams there are worse ideas than a team lacking talent taking the best player available within reason. Cooper is a polished, experienced route runner with excellent athleticism.
    • Needs: S, RT/G, NT/DE, LB, WR, CB
    • Hope might be available: OLB V Beasley, OLB A Dupree
    • Other Options: RT/G B Schreff, NT D Shelton, WR K White
    .
  8. Atlanta Falcons

    RB Todd Gurley - Georgia

The top three edge pass rushers are off the board. The abject stupidity of Gregory and Ray have taken likely taken them out of contention this high. Ray especially given how late in the process he made his foolish mistake. New head man Dan Quinn undoubtedly desperately wants to improve the pass rush. Coming from Seattle he also understands the benefits of a top running game. Gurley's stock is soaring after his combine medical recheck came back clean. Keeping him in Georgia would help re-energize the waning fan base.
    • Needs: DE/OLB, RB, C/G, FS, TE, MLB
    • Hope might be available: OLB/DE V Beasley, OLB/DE A Dupree
    • Other Options: OLB/DE R Gregory, RT/G B Schreff, trade up
    .
  9. New York Giants

WR Kevin White - West Virginia

Jerry Reese traditionally drafts for value often favoring high upside skill position talent and edge rushers over building block linemen. The serious patellar tendon injury suffered by Victor Cruz last season at least makes this a possibility even with Odell Beckham having been selected in the first round last year. White is a somewhat raw former JUCO transfer that exploded on the field his senior season and then put up almost unfathomable speed/agility numbers at the combine given his size.
    • Needs: S, RT/G, DE, DT, LB, WR
    • Hope might be available: WR A Cooper, DE A Dupree
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, DE R Gregory, T/G B Schreff, DT D Shelton
    .
  10. St. Louis Rams

    T/G Brandon Scherff - Iowa

Might need to find three new starting offensive linemen with Jake Long, Scott Wells, Davin Joseph and Joseph Barksdale all probably gone for various reasons. Only Barksdale was more than adequate last year, he is a free agent that could still possibly return. Schreff displayed his toughness playing the week after surgery for a torn meniscus last season. He is a brawling run blocker with the hands and quick feet to hold his own in pass coverage. Looks like an immediate starter either inside or at right tackle.
    • Needs: C, OT, OG, WR, CB, QB
    • Hope might be available: WR A Cooper, WR K White
    • Other Options: OT E Flowers, WR D Parker, CB T Waynes
    .
  11. Minnesota Vikings

CB Trae Waynes - Michigan St

Waynes has the athleticism and experience to play one-on-one press coverage outside. He should be able to step in immediately opposite Xavier Rhodes allowing undersized, aged veteran free agent signee Terence Newman to play in the slot.
    • Needs: CB, OT/G, MLB, S, WR, RB
    • Hope might be available: T/G B Scherff, WR K White
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, OT E Flowers, WR D Parker
    .
  12. Cleveland Browns

    NT Danny Shelton - Washington

Finished dead last in run defense last season. Shelton has been a little overrated in the draft process. Talk about his penetrating ability and push may be a little over stated. He can definitely be a two down difference maker as a huge, interior run stuffer.
    • Needs: QB, WR, OLB, NT/DE, TE, RT
    • Hope might be available: OLB A Dupree, WR K White
    • Other Options: OT E Flowers, OLB R Gregory, WR D Parker, trade up
    .
  13. New Orleans Saints

    OLB/DE Randy Gregory - Nebraska

Resigned Parys Haralson is a limited run defender and free agent acquisition Anthony Spencer is basically on his last legs opposite Junior Galette. Gregory could have gone higher before testing positive for marijuana at the combine. He might drop farther of course, but this draft is just too shallow to ignore his skills.
    • Needs: LB, OG, TE, WR, CB, NT/DE
    • Hope might be available: OLB B Dupree, CB T Waynes
    • Other Options: DE A Armstead, OT E Flowers, WR D Parker
    .
  14. Miami Dolphins

    WR DeVante Parker - Louisville

Traded for Kenny Stills and signed Greg Jennings to replace Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline. Still lack a true number one receiver. Despite needing polish as a route runner Parker has the speed to stretch the field and the size to be a weapon in the red zone. Reportedly very high on Gurley as a difference making every down back so if he is available expect him to be the pick.
    • Needs: OG, CB, WR, S, OLB, DT
    • Hope might be available: OT E Flowers, RB T Gurley, CB T Waynes
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, trade up/down
    .
  15. San Francisco 49ers

    DE Arik Armstead - Oregon

Ray McDonald was released due to off field issues. Justin Smith turns 36 early in season and could still decide to retire. Recently signed Darnell Dockett is a short term stopgap. Armstead is a boom-or-bust prospect that showed impressive improvement in his final season at Oregon. Still a work in progress as a pass rusher, the hope is he can develop into an all-around two gap and penetrating 5-technique ala Smith.
    • Needs: ILB, CB, DE, WR, OG, TE
    • Hope might be available: WR D Parker, CB T Waynes
    • Other Options: CB J Collins, ILB E Kendricks, WR B Perriman
    .
  16. Houston Texans

    WR Breshad Perriman - UCF

Looking to replace Andre Johnson opposite DeAndre Hopkins. The relatively raw Perriman has tantalizing physical skills. He needs work as a route runner and must improve his concentration. His deep speed is not in question.
    • Needs: QB, ILB, WR, OLB, C/G, DE
    • Hope might be available: DE A Armstead, OLB R Gregory, WR D Parker
    • Other Options: WR P Dorsett, ILB E Kendricks, OLB S Ray
    .
  17. San Diego Chargers

    RB Melvin Gordon - Wisconsin

Branden Oliver is a change of pace back at best. Adding a feature back to help take pressure off Philip Rivers is a priority. Gordon is second all-time in FBS career and single game rushing yards. Pass catching is reportedly improving although fumbling is an issue. He would likely be the favorite for offensive rookie of the year if he ends up here.
    • Needs: RB, NT, G/C, WR, OLB, OT
    • Hope might be available: WR B Perriman, NT D Shelton
    • Other Options: NT M Brown, WR P Dorsett, OT E Flowers
    .
  18. Kansas City Chiefs

    CB Jalen Collins - LSU

Only sure thing at corner is Sean Smith and he could be facing a DUI suspension. Phillip Gaines has the upside to develop into a stellar running mate. After them the roster is painfully thin. Collins surprisingly came out early after starting only 10 games in his college career. His physical skills are so eye popping that he could get picked in the top 20 anyway.
    • Needs: C/G, CB, OT, ILB, DE, WR
    • Hope might be available: WR B Perriman, CB T Waynes
    • Other Options: DE/NT M Brown, WR P Dorsett, OT E Flowers
    .
  19. Cleveland Browns (from Buffalo)

OT Ereck Flowers - Miami FL

The finishing touch as a replacement for Mitchell Schwartz on what could be a dominating offensive line. Flowers is a mauler with surprisingly quick feet that could legitimately play on either side of the ball.
    • Hope might be available: DE E Armstead, WR B Perriman
    • Other Options: NT/DE M Brown, WR P Dorsett
    .
  20. Philadelphia Eagles

    WR Phillip Dorsett, Miami FL

Chip Kelly has proven to be a wild card (emphasis on the wild) capable of anything since taking over as player personnel director. I almost feel bad having him fill his team’s biggest need. Dorsett is a slightly undersized, explosive big play threat. A perfect example of the old adage speed can't be taught.
    • Needs: WR, S, OLB, CB, OG, DE
    • Hope might be available: DE A Armstead, CB J Collins, WR B Perriman
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, G/T J Fisher, CB B Jones, OLB S Ray
    .
  21. Cincinnati Bengals

    OT Andrus Peat - Stanford

Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith are both free agents after the season. Whitworth could conceivably move inside. Peat has a monstrous frame and surprising agility. He is a better pass blocker than run blocker despite his size and could slide a bit due to fears he lacks a nasty streak.
    • Needs: DT, DE, OT, WR, LB, C
    • Hope might be available: DT/DE E Armstead
    • Other Options: DT M Brown, DE S Ray
    .
  22. Pittsburgh Steelers

    CB Byron Jones - UConn

No change with this pick. Jones is a nice scheme fit that provides solid value in this slot. He was flying under the radar after missing the final five games of the season with a shoulder injury. He is smart and instinctive on the field. A team captain with a reputation as a leader on and off the field. Jones possesses prototypical size and is flying up draft boards while displaying shocking athletic skills including a best ever broad jump (12'3") at the combine.
    • Needs: CB, OLB, TE, WR, S, DE
    • Hope might be available: CB J Collins
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, OLB S Ray, CB/S E Rowe
    .
  23. Detroit Lions

    DT Malcom Brown - Texas

Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and CJ Mosley are all gone. Trading for aging Haloti Ngata at least fills one spot in the short term. Despite his size Ngata is not a one dimensional two gap nose having often played 3-technique in Baltimore's hybrid defense. Brown is built like a prototypical nose tackle and has room to grow as a football player.
    • Needs: DT, G/C, RT, RB, CB, WR
    • Hope might be available: RB M Gordon, OT A Peat
    • Other Options: OL C Erving, G/T, J Fisher, OT D Humphries
    .
  24. Arizona Cardinals

    OLB Shane Ray - Missouri

Signing of LaMarr Woodley illustrates their desperation to find an edge rusher. Woodley is toast. Ray is a scheme versatile elite edge rusher with the athleticism to stand up outside. Toe injury that requires surgery might have caused a slight slide. Idiocy of getting busted two days before the draft for marijuana possession drops him farther. This is about where teams should start considering him.
    • Needs: OLB, ILB, NT/DE, RB, CB, S
    • Hope might be available: NT M Brown, RB M Gordon, CB B Jones
    • Other Options: NT/DE E Goldman, ILB E Kendricks, CB/S E Rowe
    .
  25. Carolina Panthers

    OT DJ Humphries - Florida

Cam Newton is in big trouble if either of newly signed Michael Oher or Jonathan Martin are on the field very often. The somewhat raw Humphries is highly athletic and plays with a nasty, tenacious demeanor.
    • Needs: OT, WR, DE, SS, CB, RB
    • Hope might be available: WR P Dorsett, OT A Peat
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, DE O Odighizuwa, WR J Strong
    .
  26. Baltimore Ravens

    CB/S Eric Rowe - Utah

Rowe switched to corner as a senior after starting three seasons at free safety. His stock has improved arguably more than any other player except Byron Jones in the draft process not just because of his combination of size, speed and agility. He displayed coverage ability, physicality in run support and even aggressiveness on special teams as a versatile four year starter.
    • Needs: WR, CB, RB, TE, S, OLB/DE
    • Hope might be available: WR P Dorsett, RB M Gordon, CB B Jones
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, CB K Johnson, WR J Strong
    .
  27. Dallas Cowboys

CB Kevin Johnson - Wake Forest

Johnson has flown a bit under the radar after starting 41 games at perhaps the worst program in a big 5 conference. Limited in run support due to a slight frame despite possessing a tough, aggressive nature. Should excel in zone coverage and be able to hold his own in man-to-man at least against smaller receivers in Rod Marinelli's version of the cover 2.
    • Needs: RB, CB, DE, DT, S, OLB
    • Hope might be available: RB M Gordon, CB B Jones, DE S Ray, CB/S E Rowe
    • Other Options: SS L Collins, DT E Goldman, DE O Odighizuwa, CB M Peters
    .
  28. Denver Broncos

    T/G Jake Fisher, Oregon

Lines on both side of the ball need a lot of work. Protecting rapidly aging Peyton Manning takes precedence in the short term. New coach Gary Kubiak is looking for athletic linemen to implement his zone blocking scheme. Former TE Fisher certainly fits the profile.
    • Needs: G/C, FS, RT, NT, TE, ILB
    • Hope might be available: OT D Humphries, CB/S E Rowe
    • Other Options: T/G L Collins, OL C Erving, NT E Goldman
    .
  29. Indianapolis Colts

    SS Landon Collins - Alabama

Best case scenario. An immediate starter is needed at SS with special teamer Winston Guy currently atop the depth chart. The aggressive, no-nonsense Collins excels in the box against the run. He has the ability to cover TEs and physical slot receivers, but he's not someone you want sitting back in coverage
    • Needs: S, G/C, RT, ILB, CB, RB
    • Hope might be available: T/G J Fisher, CB/S E Rowe
    • Other Options: T/G L Collins, OL C Erving, ILB E Kendrick
    .
  30. Green Bay Packers

    CB Marcus Peters - Washington

Lost Tramon Williams and Davon House in free agency. On tape Peters arguably looked like the most talented of any defensive back in this draft. Then he didn't test as well as expectedly athletically at the combine. He did not get along with the new coaching staff at Washington and was thrown off the team in early November.
    • Needs: ILB, CB, NT/DE, TE, OLB, RT/G
    • Hope might be available: NT/DE M Brown, CB K Johnson
    • Other Options: NT/DE E Goldman, ILB E Kendricks, OLB O Odighizuwa
    .
  31. New Orleans Saints (from Seattle)

NT/DE Eddie Goldman - Florida St

Brodrick Bunkley is 31 and coming off a torn quad. John Jenkins struggled replacing him. Depth is lacking at 5-technique end and Cameron Jordan is a free agent after next season. The physically imposing Goldman has the bulk, power to hold up in the middle and the length to line up over a tackle handling two gaps.
    • Hope might be available: G/T J Fisher, CB M Peters
    • Other Options: G/T L Collins, OL C Erving, OLB O Odighizuwa, WR J Strong
    .
  32. New England Patriots

OL Cameron Erving - Florida St

Erving started at DT as a freshman before switching to LT as an immediate starter for 2 season, then played center as a senior due to injuries. His length suggests he might be best suited at guard. Bill Belichick covets versatility. The interior offensive line needs help badly. Depth behind Bryan Stork doesn't exist. Dan Connolly was allowed to walk. Jordan Devey, Josh Kline and Ryan Wendell are nothing special.
    • Needs: CB, OG, WR, DT, RB, S
    • Hope might be available: G/T J Fisher, DT E Goldman, CB M Peters
    • Other Options: G/T L Collins, CB R Darby, WR J Strong

Round 2

  1. Tennessee Titans - T/G La'el Collins - LSU
Left Chicago to meet with authorities in Louisiana, evaluating him currently difficult.
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DE Owamagbe Odighizuwa - UCLA
Lovie's cover 2 requires pressure from the front four.
  3. Oakland Raiders - WR Jaelen Strong - Arizona St
Length and ball skills will be appreciated by Carr.
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Nelson Agholor - USC
Robinson, Lee better suited as secondary options, depth chart weak behind them.
  5. New York Jets - QB Bryce Petty - Baylor
Possesses toughness, leadership qualities that Geno lacks.
  6. Washington Redskins - OT Cedric Ogbuehi - Texas A&M
First rounder before tearing ACL. Failed trying to add RTs Bulaga, Parnell, Newton.
  7. Chicago Bears - FS Damarious Randall - Arizona St
Fangio's defense requires top safety play, Randall and Rolle a decent pairing.
  8. New York Giants - OT TJ Clemmings - Pitt
High upside, has only played on the offensive side of the ball for two seasons.
  9. St. Louis Rams - QB Brett Hundley - UCLA
Foles under contract for only one more season.
  10. Atlanta Falcons - DE/OLB Eli Harold - Virginia
Must find a pass rush. Solid fit as the hybrid LEO in Quinn's defense.
  11. Cleveland Browns - QB Garrett Grayson - Colorado St
Haslam desperate to find a franchise QB.
  12. New Orleans Saints - TE Maxx Williams - Minnesota
Competition for Hill to replace some of Graham's production.
  13. Minnesota Vikings - WR Dorial Green-Beckham - Oklahoma
So far Zimmer has not shied away from reclamation projects.
  14. San Francisco 49ers - ILB Eric Kendricks - UCLA
Retirements of Willis, Borland leaves a huge hole in defense's middle.
  15. Miami Dolphins - LB/S/RB Shaq Thompson - Washington
Versatile. Provides speed on weak side, ability to cover TEs, perhaps even RB depth.
  16. San Diego Chargers - NT/DE Jordan Phillips - Oklahoma
Lissemore lacks size to be an every down nose, Phillips has no such problem.
  17. Kansas City Chiefs - DE Preston Smith - Mississippi St
Long frame with excellent burst. Howard and DeVito unexciting pluggers. .
  18. Buffalo Bills

    DE Carl Davis - Iowa

Expected to switch back to a 3-4 with Rex Ryan at the helm after a single season predominately lining up in a 4-3. Marcell Darius and Kyle Williams will occupy two defensive line spots, the other is open. Davis is a scheme versatile power player with surprising athleticism.
    • Needs: QB, RT, ILB, S, NT/DE, OLB
    .
  19. Houston Texans - ILB Benardrick McKinney - Mississippi St
Unique prospect. Two down run stuffer that can rush off the edge in sub-packages.
  20. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Ron Darby - Florida St
Kelly continues to add quickness on both sides of the ball.
  21. Cincinnati Bengals - DT Grady Jarrett - Clemson
Intense, hard worker. Powerfully built despite being undersized. Peko in sharp decline.
  22. Detroit Lions - RB Duke Johnson - Miami FL
Bell returning from Achilles' injury, Riddick a one dimensional pass catcher.
  23. Arizona Cardinals - RB Tevin Coleman - Indiana
Ellington simply not an every down back. .
  24. Pittsburgh Steelers

    OLB Danielle Hunter - LSU

Clearly lack explosiveness on the edge. Hunter possesses a freakish combination of length, athleticism and explosiveness. Motor and instincts also stand out. Like many prospects from LSU his pass rushing technique needs refinement.
    • Others: DE M Edwards, CB/S Q Rollins, WR D Smith, TE M Williams
    .
  25. Carolina Panthers - WR Devin Smith - Ohio St
Field stretcher to open up space for Benjamin underneath.
  26. Baltimore Ravens - WR Sammie Coates - Auburn
Boom or bust big play threat requires refinement.
  27. Denver Broncos - DT Michael Bennett - Ohio St
Phillips' defense requires one gap penetrator lined up over center.
  28. Dallas Cowboys - RB Jay Ajayi - Boise St
Versatile with no outstanding single trait.
  29. Indianapolis Colts - G Laken Tomlinson - Duke
    Luck needs protection.
  30. Green Bay Packers - ILB Stephone Anthony - Clemson
Got rid of Jones, Hawk, Lattimore. Used Matthews inside last season with them. .
  31. Seattle Seahawks

    WR/TE Devin Funchess - Michigan

Rehabilitated draft stock somewhat at his pro day after a nightmarish combine. Oversized receiver provides mismatch problems especially with Jimmy Graham also on the field.
    • Needs: WR, CB, DT, G/C, DE, S
    .
  32. New England Patriots - CB/S Quinten Rollins - Miami OH
Raw. Started 4 years at PG, earned MAC DPOY honors in only football season.

Round 3

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OG AJ Cann - South Carolina
Experienced 51 game starter should be able to step in immediately.
  2. Tennessee Titans - DE Mario Edwards - Florida St
Provides intriguing athletic upside defensive line currently does not possess.
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars - RB Ameer Abdullah - Nebraska
Gerhart a backup at best, Robinson a change of pace.
  4. Oakland Raiders - DE Nate Orchard - Utah
Tied for next to last in 2014 with a paltry 22 sacks.
  5. Washington Redskins - CB PJ Williams - Florida St
Sometimes overly aggressive man cover corner that could eventually end up at safety.
  6. New York Jets - RB David Johnson - Northern Iowa
    Ivory and Ridley are ordinary.
  7. Chicago Bears - DE Xavier Cooper - Washington St
High upside athletic 5-techique prospect a fit for Fangio's scheme.
  8. St. Louis Rams - T/G Ali Marpet - Hobart NY
Division III star hung with big boys at Senior Bowl. Need all the OLmen they can get.
  9. Atlanta Falcons - CB/S Alex Carter - Stanford
Big, physical corner that might be better suited to safety.
  10. New York Giants - S Jaquiski Tartt - Samford
Depth chart barren at safety. Experienced FS projected by most as SS at the next level.
  11. New Orleans Saints - ILB Denzel Perryman - Miami FL
Hawthorne and Ellerbe are both below average starters.
  12. Minnesota Vikings - RB TJ Yeldon - Alabama
Purple Jesus still wants out, isn't getting any younger.
  13. Cleveland Browns - WR Rashad Greene - Florida St
Bowe and Hartline are short term stopgaps.
  14. New Orleans Saints (from Miami) - G John Miller - Louisville
Interior lineman to help keep passing lanes clear for Brees.
  15. San Francisco 49ers - CB D'Joun Smith - Florida Atlantic
Lost Cox and Culliver as free agents.
  16. Kansas City Chiefs - ILB Paul Dawson - TCU
Johnson trying to come back from torn Achilles, depth chart behind him is weak.
  17. Buffalo Bills - OT Donovan Smith - Penn St
Ryan expected to utilize ground-and-pound offense, needs a RT.
  18. Houston Texans - OLB Lorenzo Mauldin - Louisville
Clowney remains a huge question mark, Mercilus better against the run.
  19. San Diego Chargers - TE Clive Walford - Miami FL
    Gates not getting any younger.
  20. Philadelphia Eagles - OLB Hau'oli Kikaha - Washington
Relentless pass rusher lacking top size, athleticism. Has suffered a pair of torn ACLs.
  21. Cincinnati Bengals - WR Tyler Lockett - Kansas St
Adding speed to receiver corps not a bad idea even with Jones returning.
  22. Arizona Cardinals - DE Henry Anderson, Stanford
Free agent signee Redding a short term stop gap. .
  23. Pittsburgh Steelers

WR Tre McBride - William & Mary

Excellent ball skills, good size/speed ratio. Does being from the same school as Mike Tomlin give him an edge? Probably not. Colbert has proven he knows how to pick receivers so if this is the selection expect big things.
    • Others: DE H Anderson, OLB H Kikaha, CB J Shaw, S D Smith, TE C Walford
    .
  24. Detroit Lions - OG Tre Jackson - Florida St
    Sims wasn't resigned or replaced.
  25. Carolina Panthers - DE Trey Flowers - Arkansas
Looking for pass rushers after release of Hardy.
  26. Baltimore Ravens - RB Jeremy Langford - Michigan St
New OC Trestman looking for a back that can catch the ball.
  27. Dallas Cowboys - DT Marcus Hardison - Arizona St
Active interior penetrator to replace Melton.
  28. Denver Broncos - S Derron Smith - Fresno St
Slightly undersized, solid tackler with 15 career interceptions.
  29. Indianapolis Colts - CB Josh Shaw - USC
Trying to find an upgrade on Toler.
  30. Green Bay Packers - NT Tyeler Davison - Fresno St
Resigning Raji only a short term solution on the nose.
  31. Seattle Seahawks - CB Doran Grant - Ohio St
Slot corner Lane tore his ACL in the Super Bowl.
  32. New England Patriots - RB Javoris Allen - USC
Vereen and Ridley are gone, Blount and Gray too one dimensional.
  33. New England Patriots (compensatory) - CB/S Ifo Ekpre-Olomu - Oregon
Recovering from torn ACL. Double dip on versatile, second day DBs.

Day 3

4 121 Pittsburgh Steelers

Solid frame with room to grow. Fluid, smooth athlete. Still developing, learning the nuances of the game. Played second half of 2013 with broken wrist, torn finger ligament. Family was frequently homeless when he was young.

5 160 Pittsburgh Steelers

OG Mark Glowinski - West Virginia

JUCO tackle prospect switched to guard in Morgantown. Tenacious, hard working on and off the field. Among top performers at his position at the combine in bench press reps and broad jump. • Others: T/G S Hickey, S G Holliman, CB D Roberts, TE W Saxon, OLB M Valles

6 199 Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Others: CB Q Diggs, G/C M Garcia, ILB/FB J Luc, RB T Rawls, DE K Sokoli

6 212 Pittsburgh Steelers (compensatory)

TE CJ Uzomah - Auburn

High upside projects has frame, athleticism to develop into an in-line every down starter. Lacks polish as a blocker and production as a receiver. Limited in college by offensive scheme.
  • Others: CB/S J Cox, TE A Derby, T/G T Fabuluje, WR D Smelter, S J Whitehead

7 239 Pittsburgh Steelers

DE Angelo Blackson - Auburn

Developmental two-gap run stuffer that was part of a rotation in college. Lacks explosiveness, never going to be a pass rush threat.
