Worst Bet (plus two)

December 14, 2011 by Steel Haven

My last minute decision to go with the Patriots as my best bet instead of the Seahawks bit me in the ass. I enjoyed watching Offensive Coordinator Bill O'Brien get into it with Tom Brady on the sidelines after an especially egregious interception in the end zone. I was certainly screaming at Brady through my TV set. Although I can see Brady forcing the ball because of the pressure of trying to put up enough points to overcome the glaring defensive inadequacies. The Patriots made the Sex Cannon appear to be an NFL quarterback. Can't see them going to far in the playoffs against a good offense. I easily won with home teams the Chargers and Seahawks. The Chargers actually looked like they might be able to get back in the race with Tim Tebow being Urlachered for 55 minutes. Then Brian Urlacher was Tebowed in the final minutes and OT with an assist from Marion Barber.

This week the odds makers tempted me with 6 and 6.5 point favorites. There were a total of seven on Wednesday on the site I use to get my odds (FootballLocks.com). I contemplated six of those and settled on the three below. I also liked the Giants (-6.5) over the Redskins, Cowboys (-6.5) at Tampa and Patriots (-6) at Denver. Maybe it was winning twice last week with 6.5 point favorites that made me take this route.
