Power Rankings (week 7)

October 16, 2013 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. Denver Broncos 6-0 Peyton returns to Indy on Sunday night, the hype has already begun.
2. 4. Seattle Seahawks 5-1 The only TD they gave up came on the return of a muffed snap by backup holder Maragos on a FG attempt by normal holder and punter Ryan attempted at the end of the first half with Hauschka on the sidelines after getting obliterated by a block on a kick return. Luckily Hauschka was able to return in the second half.
3. 5. Kansas City Chiefs 6-0 Their 10 sacks were the second most in franchise history in a single game since sacks became an official stat in '82. They had 11 against the Browns in week 5 of '84.
4. 6. San Francisco 49ers 4-2 Fueled by Davis' career best 180 yards receiving and 2 TDs.
5. 7. Cincinnati Bengals 4-2 Escaped in OT after allowing a hobbling Lewis to overcome a 14 point fourth quarter deficit.
6. 8. New England Patriots 5-1 Finally capitalized in the final seconds after being given multiple opportunities thanks to the inability of the Saints offense to ice the game by getting a first down and staying on the field in their final two drives.
7. 2. New Orleans Saints 5-1 Graham was shut out for the first time since his rookie year in Pittsburgh.
8. 3. Indianapolis Colts 4-2 Defense could not get off the field allowing the Chargers a ridiculous 38:31 time of possession.
9. 10. Green Bay Packers 3-2 Have had a 100 yard rusher in 3 of the last 4 games after not having one in the previous 44 games.
10. 11. Detriot Lions 4-2 Red zone weapon undrafted rookie Fauria had 3 catches for 3 TDs to raise his season total to 5 TDs on 7 receptions.
11. 12. Chicago Bears 4-2 Defense set the tone early on Thursday night intercepting Eli twice in his first 5 throws, the second for a TD.
12. 9. Baltimore Ravens 3-3 Rice has been unable to get untracked and Flacco has struggled without a running game.
13. 13. Miami Dolphins 3-2 Need a win coming off the bye riding a 2 game losing streak against the Manuel-less Bills.
14. 19. Dallas Cowboys 3-3 Romo threw for 170 yards and won a week after losing while throwing for 506 yards.
15. 20. St. Louis Rams 3-3 Parlayed 4 turnovers and 95 yards of penalties by the mistake prone Texans into a second straight win.
16. 22. Philadelphia Eagles 3-3 The 3 opponents they've defeated are a combined 1-15.
17. 25. San Diego Chargers 3-3 Surprisingly able to control the ball with Matthews and Woodhead to keep Luck off the field.
18. 14. Tennessee Titans 3-3 CJ has not stepped up with Locker sidelined and Fitzpatrick is not up to the task of carrying the offense.
19. 15. Houston Texans 2-4 Threw a pick 6 for the fifth straight game, this one by Yates after a Schaub injury which the Houston fans ignorantly cheered.
20. 16. Arizona Cardinals 3-3 Defensive effort wasted by 2 more Palmer picks and an uncharacteristic Fitzgerald fumble.
21. 17. Cleveland Browns 3-3 Weeden remained winless this season as a starter in his third try.
22. 28. Carolina Panthers 2-3 Do much better when Rivera and Shula let Newton use his athleticism.
23. 23. Atlanta Falcons 1-4 Come off the bye without Jones for the season and maybe White for a game or 2. At least they get the Bucs.
24. 29. Pittsburgh Steelers 1-4 Finally forced a turnover. Thanks Geno.
25. 18. New York Jets 3-3 Bad Geno returned on a short work week.
26. 24. Oakland Raiders 2-4 Pryor is still a work in progress. No one should be surprised.
27. 27. Buffalo Bills 2-4 Signed Flynn in case Lewis can't go next week due to a foot sprain.
28. 26. Minnesota Vikings 1-4 Freeman could get an opportunity sooner rather than later with neither Cassel nor Ponder looking like the answer at QB.
29. 21. Washington Redskins 1-4 Defense and special teams are a disaster. Is Shanahan's job in jeopardy?
30. 30. New York Giants 0-6 Eli threw 3 more picks and is on pace to throw 40 for the season.
31. 31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 0-5 Lost 10 of their last 11 just like the Jaguars. Hard to envision Schiano surviving this debacle.
32. 32. Jacksonville Jaguars 0-6 Cover in Denver was a moral victory even though the 27 point spread was the largest in league history.
