Smitters Week 1 Picks vs the spread

Smitters Week 12 Picks vs the spread

Last week: 7-9 Overall: 77-83 48.1%

FLGs last week: 2-1FLGs overall: 17-16 51.5%

Special kudos this week to my alma mater, the Thiel Tomcats. First undefeated season since 1950, first Division-III playoff appearance, and last week, a 28-3 trouncing of the future Drs of Johns Hopkins in the 1st round of the playoffs. Go Tomcats.

Also, I would like to wish all my friends at stillers.com a Happy Thanksgiving. Whether I know you in person, or only by your posts on our website, we are all Steelers fans, kindred spirits in the quest for another Super Bowl title. So, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Detroit (+ 3 ) over Atlanta Detroit always plays well on Thanksgiving. With Carolina and Tampa, Atlanta needs to win to even make the playoffs. Not this week.

Dallas (- 1 ) over Denver This is more of a wish pick, hoping that Denver starts losing. Jake Plummers return to reality starts on Thanksgiving. Go Dallas!

Baltimore (+ 9 ) over Cincinnati Baltimores defense keeps this close. And if it is close in the 4th quarter, Carson Palmer will choke. (again)

Buffalo (+ 4 over Carolina Buffalo is expecting up to two feet of snow this weekend. Bills weather. Carolina wont be able to handle the cold weather.

Tampa Bay (- 3 ) over Chicago Every week I keep expecting Chicago to lose, but they keep winning, some how. This is the week that the Bears finally lose.

Minnesota (- 4 ) over Cleveland Vikings are on a roll with Brad Johnson at QB. Browns just plain SUCK.

Kansas City (- 3 ) over New England Hard to pick against the Pats, but the Chiefs, at home, with Trent Green at QB, will exploit the depleted NE secondary.

Washington (+ 3 ) over San Diego Another trip to the East Coast for the Chargers. In a game both teams desperately need to win, the Skins take this one.

San Francisco (+ 7 ) over Tennessee This could be an ugly game. San Fran keeps this one close.

St Louis (- 3 ) over Houston Even with Jamie Martin at QB, the Rams have enough power to beat the lowly Texans.

Jacksonville (- 3 ) over Arizona Arizona put up some big numbers last week. But, the Jax defense is a lot better than the Rams defense.

Oakland (- 7 ) over Miami Miami couldnt score last week against the Brownies. Oakland can score.

Green Bay (+ 4 ) over Philadelphia With the cold and snow, Green Bay is going to feel right at home. Favre still has a little left in the tank.

Seattle (- 5 ) over N.Y. Giants Eli goes for his first real road win. (winning at SF doesnt count) Seattle is playing as well as anyone in the NFC. A possible NFCC preview?

New Orleans (- 1 ) over N.Y. Jets The Saints take another trip to the Meadowlands. The Jets season is in a total downward spiral.

Pittsburgh (+ 9 ) over Indianapolis Just a guess on the point spread, but I believe this is pretty close. I think Indy would be a 2 or 3-point favorite if the game was in Pittsburgh, so that translates to 9 or 10 points on the road. Monday Night Football, Big Ben is back, Steelers pound the Colts on the ground.

My First Look Goodies (FLG) for the week are:

Tampa (- 3 ) over Chicago

St Louis (- 3 ) over Houston

Seattle (- 5 ) over NY Giants
