Rnk | LW | Team | Record | Comments |
1. | 1. | Indianapolis Colts | 9-0 | Not winning pretty. Just winning. First team ever to start consecutive seasons with 9 straight wins. |
2. | 2. | Denver Broncos | 7-2 | Winning depite Plummer, not because of him. A couple of losses could lead to Cutler getting an opportunity. |
3. | 5. | San Diego Chargers | 7-2 | Rivers came of age leading a 21 point comeback in Cincinnati which included scoring 42 in the second half. Yes, you read that right. The Chargers scored 7 touchdowns on their last 8 possessions. Tomlinson got into the endzone 4 more times. He has scored 15 touchdowns in his last 5 games. The best 5 game stretch in history. |
4. | 6. | Chicago Bears | 8-1 | Took firm control of the NFC on Sunday night in the Meadowlands. Got back in the game when Jones converted a 3rd and 22 on a draw with under 2 minutes remaining in the half. Grossman finished off the drive with a touchdown to Bradley that got them within 3. Then after taking a lead Hester put the game away with a 108 yard return of a missed field goal in the fourth quarter as a majority of Giants gave up on the play. |
5. | 7. | Baltimore Ravens | 7-2 | McNair continues to win them games late that they wouldn't have won without him. |
6. | 3. | New England Patriots | 6-3 | Lost consecutive games for the first time in 57 tries. The record of 60 games without consecutive defeats was set by the Niners from 1995 to 1999. |
7. | 12. | Seattle Seahawks | 6-3 | Hanging in with Wallace and Morris. Should get Hasselbeck and Alexander back as soon as this coming week. Although Alexander's foot has taken a lot longer to heal than expected. |
8. | 4. | New York Giants | 6-3 | Coming into Sunday night's game injuries to Strahan, Umenyiora, Tuck, Arrington, Short and Toomer were a major issue. Petitgout's broken leg only makes matters worse. |
9. | 8. | New Orleans Saints | 6-3 | Everyone saw the highlight of Bush leaping into the endzone for his first pro touchdown. What they didn't show was Bush fumbling with a 24-17 lead. The Steelers scored on the next play and the momentum had turned. |
10. | 14. | Dallas Cowboys | 5-4 | Romo continues to provide a spark. Not to mention solid play. |
11. | 15. | Carolina Panthers | 5-4 | Remain an enigma. At least they turned things around in the second half on Monday night to come out on top in a must win game against the struggling Buccaneers. |
12. | 16. | Philadelphia Eagles | 5-4 | Reid coached teams have a history of playing well after the bye. |
13. | 19. | New York Jets | 5-4 | The pupil returned home to beat his former master. |
14. | 9. | Jacksonville Jaguars | 5-4 | Playoff hopes take a hit with their second loss to the Texans in 22 days. |
15. | 10. | Atlanta Falcons | 5-4 | Vick's breakout performances against the Steelers and Bengals were quickly forgotten after very bad days versus the Lions and Browns. |
16. | 11. | Kansas City Chiefs | 5-4 | Huard's poor play in Miami opens the door for Green's eventual return. |
17. | 13. | Cincinnati Bengals | 4-5 | Coming unglued. Blew first half leads of 21-0 and 28-7 in a must win game despite huge days from Palmer and Ocho Cinco. Late drop by a wide open Henry in the endzone pretty much sums up their season of missed opportunities. |
18. | 22. | Green Bay Packers | 4-5 | Favre needs 12 touchdown passes to break Marino's career record of 420. |
19. | 23. | Pittsburgh Steelers | 3-6 | Parker became the first back since Sanders in 1997 to have a pair of runs each for over 70 yards in the same game. |
20. | 25. | Miami Dolphins | 3-6 | Last year finished with 7 straight wins. Now on a 2 game winning streak. Really need to start getting hot sooner. |
21. | 24. | San Fransisco 49ers | 4-5 | The defense has suddenly become tough to score upon. Playing the struggling Vikings and Lions undoubtedly helped. |
22. | 17. | Minnesota Vikings | 4-5 | Scored an anemic 27 total points during their 3 game losing streak. |
23. | 18. | St. Louis Rams | 4-5 | Mired in a 4 game losing streak. Latest blow was a season ending injury to Pace. |
24. | 21. | Buffalo Bills | 3-6 | Losman has been sacked 9 times and completed only 17 passes in the last 2 weeks combined. Strangely enough that resulted in a win and a 1 point loss to the Colts. Who needs a passing game? |
25. | 29. | Cleveland Browns | 3-6 | Continue to play hard for Crennel. Margin for error remains small because of the lack of home run hitters on offense. |
26. | 30. | Houston Texans | 3-6 | Have the Jaguars' number. |
27. | 20. | Washington Redskins | 3-6 | Offensive ineptitude finally got Brunell sent to the bench. Former first round pick Campbell will get an opportunity after sitting for a year and a half. |
28. | 28. | Tennessee Titans | 2-7 | Young's development is a bright spot. |
29. | 26. | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 2-7 | Talent level has deteriorated precipitously under Allen and Gruden. |
30. | 27. | Detriot Lions | 2-7 | Williams needs to quit guaranteeing victory. |
31. | 31. | Oakland Raiders | 2-7 | Resurgent Sapp leads a surprisingly stellar defense. Walter and the offensive line are just so bad. |
32. | 32. | Arizona Cardinals | 1-8 | Leinart is suffering growing pains after a hot start. Not realy a surprise. |
