Playoff Bets (conference championships)

January 18, 2012 by Steel Haven

On Saturday, I chose poorly. On Sunday.... wisely. Kudos to Alex Smith and the 49ers. They really came of age. I just didn't think they had it in them, especially Smith. Breesus continuing to shit the bed on the road didn't hurt. I should have figured newly hired Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien and Tom Brady wouldn't dick around with the Broncos like Big Ben and Bruce Arians. Instead of settling for first quarter field goals they scored touchdowns. When the Broncos finally scored they were still behind. That is when Brady put the pedal to the metal instead of allowing his offense to stagnate due to momentum.

Luckily for me Sunday was a new day. The Texans were game. They are probably the best team in the AFC with Matt Schaub. They just couldn't overcome TJ Yates. I don't mean that as an affront to Yates. He is a fifth round rookie that entered the season as a third stringer. Has Eli Manning surpassed his brother Peyton? Definitely as a playoff quarterback. How much did the tragedy involving offensive coordinator Joe Philbin's son affect the Packers? How about the bye and sitting Aaron Rodgers and other starters in the regular season finale? I guess we will never know. The Pack definitely seemed out of sorts.
