Power Rankings (week 2)

September 16, 2015 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 3. Green Bay Packers 1-0 Won their opener for the first time since 2011. Return of Jones to help make up for loss of Nelson paid early dividends.
2. 2. New England Patriots 1-0 Recipe for success is simple, Brady to Gronk and Edelman. Defense surrendering 464 yards obviously a concern.
3. 7. Arizona Cardinals 1-0 All Arians does is win.
4. 5. Denver Broncos 1-0 Carried by defense. Peyton looked completely out of synch under center instead of in the shotgun in Kubiak's offense.
5. 6. Dallas Cowboys 1-0 Loss of Bryant a major blow.
6. 1. Seattle Seahawks 0-1 Rams game tying TD illustrated why Chancellor needs to be paid. Decision to try onside kick to open overtime emphatically continued to prove that Carroll and his staff are ridiculously overrated.
7. 10. Cincinnati Bengals 1-0 Won in Oakland for the first time in franchise history on their 11th try.
8. 13. Miami Dolphins 1-0 Offense struggled in Washington needing a Landry punt return TD to pull out a 7 point win.
9. 8. Baltimore Ravens 0-1 Heart and soul of defense gone with injury to Suggs.
10. 9. Pittsburgh Steelers 0-1 Secondary a dumpster fire. Playing the clearly awful Allen, Allen and Blake over Thomas and especial Boykin seems ridiculous on the surface.
11. 14. Buffalo Bills 1-0 Defense dominated Luck despite Darius sitting due to a 1 game suspension.
12. 4. Indianapolis Colts 0-1 Deciding to enter the season with Pagano as a lame duck could blow up in the front office's face.
13. 16. San Diego Chargers 1-0 Overcame an 18 point deficit thanks largely to Rivers and Allen.
14. 18. Kansas City Chiefs 1-0 Nice to see return of Berry after he was sidelined last season due to lymphoma.
15. 11. Philadelphia Eagles 0-1 Uncharacteristic offensive struggles in first half gave Falcons an opening, secondary especially free agent signee Maxwell were torched.
16. 19. Carolina Panthers 1-0 Lack of offensive weapons means they have to grind out wins, did so in Jacksonville.
17. 22. St. Louis Rams 1-0 Could be dangerous if Foles can stay healthy, Austin continues to make big plays.
18. 12. Detriot Lions 0-1 Decision to let Suh walk looking stupider by the minute which is amazing since it was incredibly stupid from the beginning.
19. 23. New York Jets 1-0 Trip to Indy will obviously be a bigger test than visit by Brownies.
20. 24. San Francisco 49ers 1-0 Kaepernick showed glimpses of the ability to take the next step and carry his teammates.
21. 15. Minnesota Vikings 0-1 Was the solid second half of Bridgewater's rookie season a mirage?
22. 25. Atlanta Falcons 1-0 Hung on after Ryan and Jones dominated the first half.
23. 17. Houston Texans 0-1 Hard to envision season not being torpedoed by QB issues.
24. 20. New York Giants 0-1 Decided to throw on 3rd down and goal from the 1 with a little over 1:30 remaining and the Cowboys having no timeouts left after telling Jennings not to score on a pair of runs on the previous 2 plays. Following an incompletion and FG the extra time allowed Romo to get the ball into the end zone for a 1 point victory.
25. 21. New Orleans Saints 0-1 Simply do not have the talent to contend. Sad to see the Brees era end this way.
26. 29. Tennessee Titans 1-0 Can Mariota sustain his hot start?
27. 26. Chicago Bears 0-1 Forte couldn't overcome Cutler's mistakes. Sort of like Fox never replaced Trestman.
28. 27. Jacksonville Jaguars 0-1 Bortles starting to look like as big a bust as Gabbert.
29. 28. Oakland Raiders 0-1 Didn't have a play in Bengals territory until the fourth quarter with McGoin under center.
30. 30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 0-1 Lost their 10th straight home game. Last QB before Winston to throw a pick 6 on his first passing attempt was Favre.
31. 31. Washington Redskins 0-1 Cousins is not the answer.
32. 32. Cleveland Browns 0-1 Might as well give Johnny Football an extended look, playing McCown is worthless.
