Smitters Week 6 Picks vs the spread

Last week: 5-9 Overall: 37-3750%

FLGs last week: 1-2FLGs overall: 7-750%

Not a good week again, only 5-9, but Jax and Arizona both lost by the dreaded point. Such is the life of betting against the spread, though. Even though teams coming off byes last week didnt perform as they had in the past, I will still list the record the last 5 years of teams playing this week after a bye week.

Steelers (- 3 ) over Jacksonville After briefly checking, it looks like the Stillers are about even the last few years after playing Monday nights. In the future, I want to check out the records the following week of eastern time zone teams that play MNF on the west coast the week before. Regardless of who is QBing, the Steelers pull this one out.

Dallas (- 3 ) over NY Giants In the wild, wacky NFC East, who knows which Dallas team shows up this week the one who kicked Phillys ass, or the one who lost to Oakland? The Giants have lost 4 in a row the week after a bye week, so Im going with the Cowgirls.

Carolina (+ 1 ) over Detroit I think Carolina turned the corner last week in the 2nd half, and there is just something weird about saying 1st place Lions. Of course, even if they lose, at 2-3, the worst the Lions can be is tied for first.

Atlanta (- 4 ) over New Orleans Even without Michael Vick last week, the Falcons should have beat New England. A game inside on the turf will help what ails the Falcons.

Minnesota (+ 3 ) over Chicago Vikings have won 3 in a row after a bye. It is amazing how bad Culpepper has become without Moss. But, I think the Vikes, even with a bad offense, will have enough to take care of the Bears.

Kansas City (- 6 ) over Washington I think of all the teams with one loss, the Skins are the one I still am not convinced of. Kansas City is coming off a bye week (3-2 after the bye week), in which they have had two weeks to stew over the Philly game. KC is pissed, and will prevail.

Tennessee (+ 3 ) over Cincinnati In an old divisional rivalry, even after last weeks loss, the Ben-gals get caught looking forward to the ass-whipping they will be getting next week.

Cleveland (+ 5 ) over Baltimore Somewhere, the football Gods are smiling, as Cleveland climbs to 3-2 (who would have thunk it?) and the Ravens unraveling continues. Trent Dilfer will enjoy this game.

Tampa Bay (- 4 ) over Miami Ricky Williams returns, but wont even be the best RB named Williams playing. Tampa is upset over losing a game last week that they should have won.

Denver (- 3 ) over New England It seems that Denver has gotten their swagger back (and ground game) in the Mile High City. New England ends their stretch of tough games with a loss to the Broncos.

Buffalo (- 3 ) over NY Jets With what may be a record 4 games with an O/U of 35 or less, this game has the lowest at 33. Kelly Holcomb leads the Jills to a victory over the Jets and 76-year old Vinny.

Oakland (+ 2 ) over San Diego Will be interesting to see the hangover the Chargers have from the loss to Steelers. Even though they are only taking the quick trip up the coast, I like the Raiders in this one. (Oakland 3-2 after a bye week, but have lost the last 2)

Seattle (- 9 ) over Houston Seattle is coming off an impressive road win in St Louis last week, the only thing Houston has going for it is the Astros will still be playing for another game or two.

St Louis (+ 13 ) over Indianapolis This seems like a lot of points in a game that may be a shootout. Dwight Freeney gets bit by the SI Jinx, and the Colts defense is exposed.

My First Look Goodies (FLG) for the week are:

Minnesota (+ 3 ) over Chicago

Buffalo (- 3 ) over NY Jets

Seattle (- 9 ) over Houston
