Power Rankings (week 14)

December 14, 2016 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. New England Patriots 11-2 Brady joined Peyton, Favre and Brees as the only QBs in league history with 450 or more career TD passes.
2. 2. Dallas Cowboys 11-2 Both of their losses have been at the hands of the Giants by a combined total of 4 points.
3. 4. Kansas City Chiefs 10-3 Kelce along with Gonzalez and Graham are the only TEs in league history with 4 straight 100 yard receiving games.
4. 3. Oakland Raiders 10-3 Drop from the first to fifth seed in the AFC with second loss to the Chiefs.
5. 6. Detroit Lions 9-4 Will finger injury cause Stafford problems down the stretch?
6. 9. Pittsburgh Steelers 8-5 The first franchise to have 3 coaches with 100 regular season wins as Tomlin last Sunday joined Cowher (149) and Noll (193). Tomlin, Cowher and Noll have coached the team consecutively for 47 years since '69.
7. 10. New York Giants 9-4 Eli started his 197th straight regular season game, third most in league history among QBs behind his brother Peyton (208) and Favre (297).
8. 5. Seattle Seahawks 8-4-1 Last time they lost by more than 10 points was '11.
9. 11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8-5 Surprising winners of 5 straight.
10. 12. Atlanta Falcons 8-5 Didn't need Jones against the Rams. Sitting him again versus the Niners might not be the worst idea.
11. 14. Green Bay Packers 7-6 Offense firing on all cylinders. Is it too late? Could they be derailed by Rodgers' balky hamstring?
12. 7. Denver Broncos 8-5 Final three games are against opponents (Patriots, Chiefs, Raiders) that have combined to lose only 8 games this season.
13. 13. Miami Dolphins 8-5 Tannehill's season ended by a torn ACL, solid backup Moore at least gives them a chance.
14. 15. Washington Redskins 7-5-1 Last in the league in third down defense allowing the opposition a 48% conversion rate.
15. 8. Baltimore Ravens 7-6 Loss of Smith for an extended time would be a major blow to the pass defense.
16. 16. Minnesota Vikings 7-6 Red zone follies including Assiata fumbling and getting stuffed on fourth down both from the 1 yard line luckily didn't matter in Jacksonville.
17. 18. Houston Texans 7-6 Have yet to lose in their division with 2 games remaining.
18. 19. Tennessee Titans 7-6 Managed to beat the Broncos despite Mariota completing only 6 passes.
19. 23. Cincinnati Bengals 5-7-1 Won consecutive games for the first time this season.
20. 17. Indianapolis Colts 6-7 Rest of the team simply not good enough to overcome Luck turning the ball over 3 times.
21. 26. Carolina Panthers 5-8 Defense has come on of late now leading the league with 39 sacks.
22. 20. Arizona Cardinals 5-7-1 DJ and James are the only players in league history to have 100 or more yards from scrimmage in each of the first 13 games to start a season.
23. 21. Buffalo Bills 6-7 Rumors running rampant that Ryan, Taylor won't be back.
24. 22. New Orleans Saints 5-8 Brees has thrown for over 4000 yards for a league record 11th consecutive season.
25. 24. San Diego Chargers 5-8 Couldn't overcome Rivers turning the ball over 5 times in Charlotte.
26. 25. Philadelphia Eagles 5-8 Wentz needs help.
27. 29. New York Jets 4-9 Ended 4 game losing streak by rallying from 14 down at halftime to win in Santa Clara.
28. 27. Chicago Bears 3-10 Done in by back-to-back holding penalties on the final drive down by 3 on completions that would have given them the ball in Lions territory.
29. 28. Los Angeles Rams 4-9 Gave up more TDs in the Coliseum last Sunday to the Falcons than they have scored their themselves all season. The embarrasment was finally enough to get Fisher fired albeit a week after his contract extension was announced making the front office appear even more clueless. Fisher ends up tied with Reeves for most career losses by a head coach.
30. 30. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-11 Haven't won a home game in over a year.
31. 31. San Francisco 49ers 1-12 Rumors swirling that Baalke will finally be fired at the end of the season. Hard to envision a new GM wanting to keep Kelly.
32. 32. Cleveland Browns 0-13 Just the 8th team in league history to lose the first 13 games of a season. Clinched last place in the AFC North for the 14th time in the last 18 years. Last time they won a game Manziel started at QB.
