Hard Hat Award (Game #8, vs. Philly)

Stiller LB James Farrior is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.

Farrior had another sterling effort in the big win over the Iggles. He made 4 tackles and, as the defensive captain, led by example with sheer grit, intensity, and desire. He clutch tackle on a 3d & 2 flare pass to Westbrook in the 2Q, when the game was still in doubt, was a perfect example of what hard hat football is all about.Farrior astutely read the play, reacted with alacrity, and then showed textbook tackling technique by crisply wrapping up Westbrook and then dumping him on his ass for a 4-yard loss. This, my friends, is hard hat football. Then there was the huge play by Farrior in the 3Q, when Farrior again smartly read the play, and stepped in and picked off a McNab pass, and then bolted 41 yards to set up a Stiller FG that iced the game. There are specific reasons why this Stiller team is playing far better than the 2003 version, and without question, one of those reasons is that the defensive captain of this year's team -- unlike last year's edition -- is leading by example and is playing with hustle, tenacity, and grit.

Special mention again goes to the Stiller offensive line, who again played smashmouth football and essentially jammed the ball down the throats of the Iggles' helpless defense, even when the Iggles knew full well that the Stillers were going to plunge the ball. When everyone in the stadium knows you're gonna plunge, and you do it time and time and time again with success, that is simply offensive line domination at its finest.

Kudos to Farrior for winning the weekly Hard Hat Award.Wear the Hard Hat proudly, James!
