RnkLWTeamRecordComments
.1.San Diego Chargers12-2Tomlinson continued his onslaught on the record book by breaking Horning's single season scoring record.
.2.Baltimore Ravens11-3Still need help to get a playoff bye.
.3.Chicago Bears12-2Not really playing well as evidenced by the Buccaneers taking them to overtime in Soldier Field.
.5.Indianapolis Colts11-3Manning and Harrison got them back on track. Still hard to envision them going far in the playoffs considering their running game and defense.
.7.New England Patriots10-4Put 40 points on the scoreboard even though they only managed 230 yards of total ofense.
.4.New Orleans Saints9-5Sluggish home loss to the Redskins didn't stop them from clinched the NFC South.
.9.Dallas Cowboys9-5Back in the race for an opening round bye thanks in part to their bitter rivals from Washington.
.6.Cincinnati Bengals8-6Momentum halted in Indianapolis. The playoffs are no sure thing in the hotly contested AFC with games remaining against the Broncos and Steelers.
.13.Philadelphia Eagles8-6Garcia's play has quite frankly shocked me. I thought he was done about 4 years ago.
.16.Denver Broncos8-6Cutler needs to build on his performance in Arizona for them to make a playoff run.
.14.Tennessee Titans7-7Pacman is developing into an incredible big play threat on special teams and defense. Now if he could just mature off the field.
.8.Jacksonville Jaguars8-6Jeckyl and Hyde. After a stirring win over the Colts they gave up 3 turnover returns of more than 60 yards for touchdowns and lost to the Titans.
.17.New York Jets8-6Houston has given the running game a spark.
.18.Pittsburgh Steelers7-7Playoff hopes are on life support. A game behind the Bengals, Broncos, Jaguars and Jets for an AFC wildcard. Tied with the Chiefs, Titans and Bills. Finish up with tough matchups against division rivals the Ravens and Bengals. Even should they win those contests a 4-6 record in AFC conference games makes a playoff spot seem unlikely.
.20.Buffalo Bills7-7Among the hottest teams in football along with the Titans and Steelers. Of course none of them have more than a faint hope in the AFC.
.10.Seattle Seahawks8-6Sputtering offense and fourth quarter defensive collapse means they will have to wait at least another week to clinch the NFC West.
.11.New York Giants7-7Still control their own destiny despite losing 5 of the last 6.
.12.Atlanta Falcons7-7Mora Jr. needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. Like father, like son.
.15.Kansas City Chiefs7-7Displaying a lack of offensive creativity with Edwards at the helm. Not a surprise.
.19.Miami Dolphins6-8Harrington reverted to the form that got him run out of Detroit.
.23.Green Bay Packers6-8Favre broke Marino's career completions record. Expect him to return next year to break Marino's career touchdown pass record. And Blanda's career interception record.
.24.St. Louis Rams6-8The Raiders were the perfect tonic for this struggling team. Could legitimately get to .500 with the Redskins and Vikings left on the schedule. In the NFC that means playoff contention.
.26.San Fransisco 49ers6-8Ended their 3 game losing streak and swept the season series with Seattle.
.21.Minnesota Vikings6-8Rookie second rounder Jackson from I-AA Alabama State will start the final 2 games. Not a bad idea at this point.
.22.Carolina Panthers6-8Former Heisman trophy winner Weinke dropped to 1-17 as a starter in he NFL.
.29.Washington Redskins5-9Betts has shown that he can carry the load.
.25.Arizona Cardinals4-10Leinart had a bad game against the Broncos. Rookie quarterbacks have bad games.
.27.Cleveland Browns4-10Savage has simply not improved the talent level as much as I expected.
.28.Houston Texans4-10Carr appears to be regressing under Kubiak, not progressing.
.30.Tampa Bay Buccaneers3-11Decision to start veteran journeyman Rattay in Cleveland shows just how bad things have gotten for Gruden.
.31.Oakland Raiders2-12Still hard to believe they took Huff over Leinart and Cutler.
.32.Detriot Lions2-12Almost as hard to believe they took Sims over Leinart and Cutler. At least Sims has played better than Huff. Really have no choice but to draft Quinn if they lose out.
