Smitters Week 1 Picks vs the spread

Smitters Week 17 Picks vs the spread

Last week:10-6 Overall: 118-122 49.2%

FLGs last week: 1-2FLGs overall: 25-23 52.1%

This is always a tough week to pick the games straight up, let alone with the spreads. Will the Bengals tank to avoid the Steelers? Will the Patriots tank to avoid the Steelers? If the Steelers dont have to win, who plays and for how long? The questions abound this week.

San Diego (-10 ) over Denver Denver is resting players thanks to the Bungals inability to beat the Bills last week. The Chargers are going to want to knock the Chiefs out of any chance of the playoffs.

NY Giants (- 9 ) over Oakland Giants need a win to get some sort of momentum for the playoffs.

Pittsburgh (- 14 ) over Detroit Even if the Steelers dont need to win, Charlie Batch will lead the Steelers to a huge win.

Indianapolis (- 6 ) over Arizona I think the return of Tony Dungy will give the Colts a lift, even in this meaningless game.

Baltimore (- 3 ) over Cleveland The resurgence of Kyle Boller continues against a Browns team who just plain sucked last week.

Buffalo (- 1 ) over NY Jets Possibly the last game for Donahoe and Mularkey. Holcomb proved he can play decently which should be enough to win this week against the Jets.

Carolina (- 4 ) over Atlanta Just a few weeks ago this looked like the game to decide the NFC South. Since then, Atlanta has gone south (so to speak) and Carolina needs the win for the playoffs.

Chicago (+ 4 ) over Minnesota After the Steelers beat the Bears, all the talk was of the Bears 8-game winning streak was a fluke. But, the Bears may have the best chance of any NFC team to knock off the Seahawks.

Cincinnati (+ 7 ) over Kansas City Even with the Bengals perhaps trying to avoid the Steelers with a loss, they need to play well after the game last week.

New England (- 6 ) over Miami Miami is on a roll, but playing in New England against a team on an equally good roll, and in what may be some nasty weather, will lead to the Dolphins losing the game.

Tampa Bay (- 13 ) over New Orleans The Saints couldnt beat the Lions last week, against the Bucs they wont stand a chance.

San Francisco (+ 1 ) over Houston This is finally the week that Alex Smith throws a TD pass!

Tennessee (+ 3 ) over Jacksonville Jax could be the biggest scoreboard watcher this week, to see if they will be going to NE or Bungleland. With nothing to play for, the Titans win this game.

Green Bay (- 3 ) over Seattle If one would watch this game, Im sure the theme of the day would be Is this Brett Favres last game in front of his Packers faithful? That should be enough to lead the Pack to a win against Seattle.

Washington (- 7 ) over Philadelphia Washington looks to continue its impressive streak. Against the Eagles, it should happen.

St Louis (+ 12 ) over Dallas This just seems like a lot of points for the Cowboys to be giving up.

My First Look Goodies (FLG) for the week are:

Indianapolis (- 6 ) over Arizona

Carolina (- 4 ) over Atlanta

St Louis (+ 12 ) over Dallas
