Maddox Wins Weekly Hard
Hat Award (Game #3, vs. Clev)
Stiller QB Tommy Maddox is the winner of our
weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies
the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast
furnace of a still mill.
Maddox came into the game stone cold and relieved
Stewart at QB, and promptly led the Stillers to their first and only TD.� Maddox threw a pick in OT, but then
collected himself and marched the team downfield into chipshot FG range, and
the FG gave the Stillers a desperately needed victory.� Maddox didn't make or absorb the kind of big
hits associated with the Hard Hat, but mentally he was as tough as nails, and
tough enough for the committee to award him the prestigious Hard Hat Award.
