Power Rankings (week 8)

October 28, 2015 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. Green Bay Packers 6-0 Defense allowing 16.8 points per game, least in the league.
2. 2. New England Patriots 6-0 Opening brief shows league obviously serious about appeal of Judge Berman's decision to vacate Brady's 4 game suspension for Deflategate.
3. 3. Denver Broncos 6-0 Defense dominant. Scary if Peyton can defy time, offense can get their act together.
4. 4. Cincinnati Bengals 6-0 Victory in Pittsburgh this week would make division championship after only 7 games a foregone conclusion barring catastrophic, unforeseen circumstances.
5. 5. Carolina Panthers 6-0 League has never before had 5 teams undefeated after 6 weeks.
6. 7. Atlanta Falcons 6-1 Won despite only scoring 10 point in Nashville. Win obviously good. Offensive ineptitude obviously bad.
7. 9. Arizona Cardinals 5-2 Palmer's 16 TD passes tied with Brady for the league lead.
8. 6. New York Jets 4-2 As goes Ivory, so goes the Jets. Averaged slightly over 170 yards rushing in their wins, under 70 yards rushing in their losses.
9. 11. Minnesota Vikings 4-2 Won on the road for the first time this season in Detroit, would benefit greatly from another divisional road win on Sunday in Chicago.
10. 14. Seattle Seahawks 3-4 Dominated Niners. Does this signify a return to form or poor competition?
11. 13. New York Giants 4-3 Alone in first place in a bad division thanks to league leading +10 turnover differential.
12. 8. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-3 Return of Roethlisberger obviously can't happen soon enough after performance of Landry in Arrowhead, Vick previously.
13. 18. St. Louis Rams 3-3 Only backs before Gurley in franchise history to gain over 150 yards from scrimmage in 3 consecutive games were Faulk, Dickerson.
14. 19. Miami Dolphins 3-3 Tannehill completed 25 straight passes over the last 2 weeks breaking McNabb's league record set in '02.
15. 20. New Orleans Saints 3-4 Payton, Brees have risen from the dead. Messiahs or Zombies?
16. 23. Oakland Raiders 3-3 Did not punt or turn the ball over in the first half for the first time since '02.
17. 10. Indianapolis Colts 3-4 Next 3 opponents (Broncos, Panthers, Falcons) have lost a total of 1 game.
18. 12. Philadelphia Eagles 3-4 Bradford clearly not working out.
19. 15. Buffalo Bills 3-4 Rallied in London streaming on Yahoo yet ultimately could not overcome Manuel's mistakes, turnovers.
20. 26. Washington Redskins 3-4 Undefeated when Cousins doesn't turn the ball over.
21. 21. Chicago Bears 2-4 Offense continues to be dominated by Forte. Trading the free agent to be at the deadline would be tantamount to giving up on the season.
22. 30. Kansas City Chiefs 2-5 Berry getting his first interception since returning from lymphoma was a nice moment.
23. 16. San Diego Chargers 2-5 Allen broke the record of Harrison and Houshmandzadeh for most catches after the first 7 games.
24. 17. Dallas Cowboys 2-4 Switch from Weeden to Cassel predictably didn't make a difference.
25. 31. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-5 Won 2 of their first 7 games for the first time since '11.
26. 22. Houston Texans 2-5 Quit in Miami, garbage time notwithstanding.
27. 24. San Francisco 49ers 2-5 Already lost 4 times this season by 14 points or more.
28. 25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2-4 Blew a 17 point halftime lead in Washington.
29. 27. Cleveland Browns 2-5 Being coy about McCown's shoulder injury. Sadly starting QB probably won't matter to bottom line. Still think taking an extended look at Manziel would be the smartest move.
30. 28. Detriot Lions 1-6 Firing offensive coordinator Lombardi, offensive line coaches a meaningless gesture.
31. 29. Baltimore Ravens 1-6 Harbaugh and Flacco have never had a losing season in Baltimore.
32. 32. Tennessee Titans 1-5 Season opening victory over Bucs is their only win in last 16 games.
