Round 11. Los Angeles Rams (from Tennessee) QB Jared Goff - California Traded a king's ransom including the 15th pick, a pair of second rounders and a third rounder this year plus 2017 first and third round picks to the Titans for this selection along with fourth and sixth round picks this year. Rumblings when the trade was first made suggested that more solidly built, athletic Wentz was the target. Now the general consensus is that Goff will be the pick. Goff clearly seems to be more ready to play immediately. Admittedly his numbers may have been somewhat inflated in the spread scheme of Sonny Dykes. His touch, accuracy and consistency should translate well to the next level.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (from Cleveland) QB Carson Wentz - North Dakota St Traded the 8th pick, a third rounder and a fourth rounder this year plus 2017 first and 2018 second round picks to the Browns for this selection along with a 2017 fourth round pick. Already didn't have their second rounder this year due to the deal for now disgruntled Sam Bradford. Doug Pederson has been drooling over Wentz since being hired as head coach despite the resigning of Bradford and signing of Chase Daniel. Why shouldn't Pederson begin his tenure swinging for the fences in an attempt to add a franchise QB? Wentz was under center the last two season for the team that has won a record five straight NCAA DI-FCS titles. He has prototypical size, a strong arm and plus athleticism to extend plays or gain yards on the ground. Not sure if trading or releasing Bradford is possible. Daniel as a stopgap starter while developing Wentz for at least half a season is probably the best case scenario.
3. San Diego Chargers OT Ronnie Stanley - Notre Dame Protecting Philip Rivers is paramount. The adequate Joseph Barksdale was resigned on the right side. Rivers would undoubtedly welcome an upgrade over King Dunlap on the left.Stanley has all the physical tools, definitely looking the part of a franchise left tackle. He is durable and competitive with a high ceiling, very limited downside. Durability is ultimately what gets Stanley picked before Tunsil.
4. Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott - Ohio St Elliot's combination of size, vision, balance and intensity make him special. He has the work ethic to improve as a pass protector, thus becoming a true every down back. Behind this offensive line he should be immediately dominant taking pressure off Tony Romo and the defense.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars CB/S Jalen Ramsey - Florida St Ramsey was a 41 game starter despite coming out early, the first true freshman to start at corner in Tallahassee since Deion Sanders. He is an instinctive ball hawk that has also played safety and excelled on coverage units. Despite good depth the roster lacks a true shutdown corner. Ramsey could move into that role or fill the more immediate need at safety.
6. Baltimore Ravens OT Laremy Tunsil - Mississippi Joe Flacco needs better protection. He had started every game in his career before taking a beating last season and eventually landing on IR. Eugene Monroe has been unable to stay healthy since signing as a free agent. James Hurst fell flat on his face as a replacement before Kelechi Osemele solidified the left side after moving outside from guard. Osemele is gone to Oakland. Tunsil was the consensus number one pick for months before the recent trades of the Rams and then Eagles into the first two picks. Now Tunsil's stock seems to be somewhat in decline due to concerns about repeated nagging injuries that along with a suspension for receiving extra benefits caused him to never play a full college season. His incredible athleticism and agility would be tough to pass up at this point.
7. San Francisco 49ers DE DeForest Buckner - Oregon Hiring of Chip Kelly makes them more of a wild card. The ultimate fate of Colin Kaepernick remains undecided. Since the Eagles traded up to the second pick for a QB there have even been some rumblings about Kelly reuniting with Sam Bradford. Blaine Gabbert is nothing more than a workable short term stopgap. Trent Baalke has admitted drafting a rookie with this pick is not likely, trading down or targeting a signal caller in the second round more realistic possibilities. Simply taking the best player available at a position of need other than QB makes the most sense. Said to covet Buckner. He is basically a much more productive version of former college teammate Arik Armstead drafted by Baalke with the 17th selection last year. Kelly adding another player from Oregon is really just a coincidence in this case.
8. Cleveland Browns (from Miami thru Philly) OLB/DE Joey Bosa - Ohio St Seem to have decided during the process that building an infrastructure before trying to develop a franchise QB was the correct path. Bosa is an every down edge setter perfect for the strong side. While perhaps not a dynamic pass rusher, he has the ability to get to the quarterback and make a difference in every facet of the game. He should be able to contribute immediately.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Vernon Hargreaves - Florida Hargreaves started as a true freshman, earning All-SEC first team honors in each of his three seasons. A plug and play immediate starter, he is an agile cover corner that also excels in run support and is a steady tackler. Has a solid, athletic frame despite being an inch or so shorter than ideal.
10. New York Giants OLB Leonard Floyd - Georgia Finished dead last in the league in passing defense, 30th in sacks. Signed Olivier Vernon and resigned Jason Pierre Paul to play with their hand on the ground. Linebacking corpsremains terribly lacking in athleticism, talent. Floyd is a long, lithe athlete experienced at rushing off the edge standing up in odd man fronts. Thought of as more of a 3-4 OLB prospect for that reason without the ability to add bulk to play with his hand on the ground in any scheme, there is no reason to believe his skill set can't translate to weak side LB in a 4-3. Jack has reportedly been taken off their draft board.
11. Chicago Bears OT Jack Conklin - Michigan St Conklin was a late bloomer that walked on and after taking a redshirt started 38 career games in 3 seasons before coming out early. His ability to stay on the left side at the next level was originally questioned due to a perceived lack of top athleticism. Those worries proved to be unfounded as Conklin dazzled throughout the pre-draft process.
12. New Orleans Saints DT Sheldon Rankins - Louisville Dennis Allen was retained as defensive coordinator after replacing Rob Ryan mid-season. The problem was mainly talent, not scheme. Not that the more organized, less mercurial Allen won't help. Need defensive play makers regardless of position. Rankins is a disruptive interior presence that played all along the defensive front at Louisville. The talk of Senior Bowl week before being forced to sit out the game due to an undisclosed minor injury. Described by one analyst as the proverbial bowling ball of butcher knives.
13. Miami Dolphins (from Philadelphia) M/OLB Myles Jack - UCLA Jack suffered a torn meniscus in September, leaving school early to rehab with the Cardinals staff physical therapist in Phoenix. He is a top five talent in this draft that seems poised for a fall after his combine medical recheck. Jack is a freak athlete that was the only player in Pac 12 history to be named offensive and defensive freshman of the year. When healthy he is a versatile every down defender that excels against the run, as a blitzer and in coverage.
14. Oakland Raiders DE Shaq Lawson - Clemson The high motor Lawson is an all-purpose, every down asset that has the power to set the edge against the run and quickness to get to the QB. Capable of producing from either side in any scheme. There are concerns about the health of Mario Edwards. Khalil Mack often plays standing up. A pass rusher opposite Mack is needed in any case.
15. Tennessee Titans (from LA) OT Taylor Decker - Ohio St Looking for a bookend to pair with Taylor Lewan. Decker started his final 42 games in Columbus and projects as an immediate starter at the next level, probably fitting best on the right side. Competitive, high character team captain that won 50 games in his four year career. Powerful at the point of attack. Has the frame and natural balance to neutralize speed rushers despite a lack of top athleticism.
16. Detroit Lions DT Jarran Reed - Alabama Dominated as a run stuffer in the National Championship game and Senior Bowl. Reed was steadier and arguably more effective than teammate Robinson all season. Upside limited somewhat by lack of top athleticism, will need to improve conditioning to be an every down player. Aging Haloti Ngata was resigned for the short term. The depth chart beside him is barren.
17. Atlanta Falcons OLB Darron Lee - Ohio St Recruited as a safety, Lee started as a redshirt freshman and came out early after only two seasons on the field. He played in space as a run-and-chase linebacker asked to both cover and blitz in passing situation. Lee is similar to the man he replaced in Columbus, current Steeler Ryan Shazier.
18. Indianapolis Colts CB William Jackson III - Houston Patrick Robinson was signed to pair with Vontae Davis. More help is needed. Jackson's length and speed have him moving up draft boards. The former JUCO transfer is a well built, aggressive corner with excellent ball skills and the ability to match up against the more physical receivers currently in vogue.
19. Buffalo Bills DE Emmanuel Ogbah - Oklahoma St Problems getting to the QB in Rex Ryan's first season were well documented. Mario Williams was released after quitting on the team. Ogbah shared the Big 12 defensive player of the year award with Billings thanks to an enticing combination of length, speed and power. Still learning the nuances of his position. He has the work ethic and mental makeup to reach his upside.
20. New York Jets OLB/DE Kevin Dodd - Clemson Blitzed incessantly in Todd Bowles' first year at the helm in part due to the lack of a top playmaker on the edge. Dodd started only a single season with opponents focused more on teammate Shaq Lawson on the other side of the line. He possesses an intriguing blend of size, length, power and athleticism. Admittedly a project in this or for that matter any other scheme. No reason to think he can't stand up outside after combine, post season workouts.
21. Washington Redskins ILB Reggie Ragland - Alabama The 26th ranked run defense obviously needs improvement. The SEC defensive player of the year, Ragland is a relentless, physical defender at his best sifting through blockers to attack ball carriers. Has had to play through some nagging injuries due to the violent nature of his game which has led some to have concerns about durability. Unlikely to be able to cover slot receivers or top move TEs downfield at the next level.
22. Houston Texans NT/DE A'Shawn Robinson - Alabama Lost starting end Jared Crick in free agency, Vince Wilfork isn't getting any younger in the middle. JJ Watt needs help. Robinson is a bit of a polarizing prospect. Possessing a huge, big boned frame he played all along the line in the Crimson Tide's odd man front. Used mostly as a 2-gap lineman to take up blockers and free linebackers to make plays. A projection as a backfield disrupter with the physical traits to develop into more of a play maker.
23. Minnesota Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell - Mississippi Charles Johnson and Mike Wallace were major disappointments last season. Former first rounder Cordarrelle Patterson never developed. Luckily last year's fifth rounder Stefon Diggs flashed top talent as a rookie. Treadwell is a long, well built, athletic receiver that competes on every play and excels at catching contested passes. He would provide Teddy Bridgewater with a security blanket despite a lack of blazing straight line speed.
24. Cincinnati Bengals WR Corey Coleman - Baylor Marvin Jones got a big payday from the Lions in free agency. The ultra-productive, undersized Coleman won the Biletnikoff Award before coming out early. He's an explosive deep threat with the leaping ability and ball skills to overcome his lack of prototypical size. There are concerns because in Art Briles' scheme Coleman ran a limited number of routes.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers CB Eli Apple - Ohio St Secondary has been the biggest need for several years, arguably the last half decade. Kevin Colbert has drafted exactly one DB in the first round since being elevated to the top personnel position of the franchise back in early 2000, difference maker Troy Polamalu in a trade up in 2003. The last corner taken by the franchise in the first round was Chad Scott in 1997. Apple's height, arm length, build and athleticism stood out at the combine. He is physical, aggressive and tough minded with experience in both man and zone coverage. Apple needs to become more disciplined both as a tackler and in coverage to avoid penalties.
26. Seattle Seahawks C/G Ryan Kelly - Alabama No good way to put this, offensive line is a mess. Kelly is a plug and play interior lineman that hasn't allowed a sack in over two years. Obviously can use all the immediate starters they can get. As an added bonus Kelly's intelligence and ability to make line calls makes those around him better.
27. Green Bay Packers OLB/DE Noah Spence - Eastern Kentucky Julius Peppers is 36, Clay Matthews turns 30 before the start of the season. Time to find help on the edge. A top recruit at Ohio State, Spence flashed first round talent before being thrown out of the Big 10 due to multiple drug offenses. Resurfaced and dominated in the Ohio Valley Conference after receiving treatment for his Ecstacy addiction, has been drug free for over a year. Tough to project, obviously some teams will undoubtedly remove him completely from their draft boards.
28. Kansas City Chiefs WR Will Fuller - Notre Dame Fuller can take the top off a defense. He is a down the field play maker with incredible speed considered by some to be one dimensional. While filling a clear need on a team that lacks offensive difference makers, whether Fuller would fit with check down Alex Smith is a good question.
-- New England Patriots Forfeited, penalty for deflate-gate.
29. Arizona Cardinals CB Mackensie Alexander - Clemson Never adequately replaced Antonio Cromartie opposite Patrick Peterson last season. Alexander was a top 5 recruit coming out of high school in 2013. Starter as redshirt freshman. Fluid, quick footed athlete with the brash attitude needed by a top corner. Excelled in man-to-man coverage. Rarely challenged in the ACC, did not have an interception in college. Diminutive build a concern.
30. Carolina Panthers S Keanu Neal - Florida The unexpected decision to rescind the franchise tag from Josh Norman leaves a hole in the secondary. A direct replacement is not available in this scenario so why not address another need in the secondary. Neal is a hybrid that excels in the box, has the athleticism to develop in coverage. He should be an immediate upgrade on Roman Harper.
31. Denver Broncos DE/NT Vernon Butler - Louisiana Tech Malik Jackson left via free agent, depth was lacking along the defensive front even with him on the roster. Butler was unblockable at Senior Bowl practices. He's scheme and position versatile having played all along the line in multiple fronts.
Round 232. Cleveland Browns - QB Paxton Lynch - Memphis Pull trigger when QB falls into their lap. 33. Tennessee Titans - NT Andrew Billings - Baylor Co-Big 12 defensive player of the year, a load in the middle. 34. Dallas Cowboys - WR Josh Doctson - TCU Another weapon for Romo. 35. San Diego Chargers - S Karl Joseph - West Virginia Fast riser could end up in first round. 36. Baltimore Ravens - DE/DT Robert Nkemdiche - Mississippi Huge upside. Major concerns about motor, off the field issues. 37. San Francisco 49ers - QB Connor Cook - Michigan St Kaepernick trade still possible. 38. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE/OLB Kamalei Correia - Boise St More talent for the vastly improved defensive front seven. 39. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DT Kenny Clark, UCLA Space eater to play next to McCoy. 40. New York Giants - OT Jason Spriggs - Indiana Flowers better suited to the right side. 41. Chicago Bears - DE Jonathon Bullard - Florida Scheme versatile, two-gap edge setter that can move inside on passing downs. 42. Miami Dolphins - DT Chris Jones - Mississippi St Provides a presence next to Suh. 43. Tennessee Titans (from Philadelphia through LA) - CB Artie Burns, Miami FL Could be a trade down candidate for Steelers corners off the board at 25. 44. Oakland Raiders - RB Derrick Henry - Alabama Don't view Murray as an every down back. 45. Tennessee Titans (from LA) - WR Mike Thomas - Ohio St Mariota needs help. 46. Detroit Lions - T/G Germain Ifedi - Texas A&M Long, athletic project that lacks experience on the left side. 47. New Orleans Saints - OLB/S Su'a Cravens - USC Hybrid for defense that needs to add anyone with talent. 48. Indianapolis Colts - OG Cody Whitehair - Kansas St Grigson can't ignore the offensive line forever. 49. Buffalo Bills - QB Christian Hackenberg - Penn St Rumors swirling, owner a Penn St alumni. 50. Atlanta Falcons - TE Hunter Henry - Arkansas Been a need since Gonzalez retired. 51. New York Jets - OG Josh Garnett - Stanford Competition for Winters, Dozier on left side. 52. Houston Texans - WR Tyler Boyd - Pitt Don't have much on the depth chart after Hopkins. 53. Washington Redskins - WR Sterling Shepard, Oklahoma Excellent route runner to work underneath. 54. Minnesota Vikings - S Vonn Bell - Ohio St Should compete immediately for playing time over Sendejo. 55. Cincinnati Bengals - DT Austin Johnson - Penn St Peko in sharp decline. 56. Seattle Seahawks - DT Maliek Collins - Nebraska Mebane left as a free agent. 57. Green Bay Packers - CB Kendall Fuller - Virginia Tech Have lost a lot of talent in free agency at corner the last few years. 58. Pittsburgh Steelers S TJ Green - Clemson Back-to-back secondary selections not a luxury. Early entrant. Hybrid with ability to play in the box, athleticism to develop in coverage.
59. Kansas City Chiefs - S Darian Thompson - Boise St Durable, competative four year starter with solid ball skills. Lacks recovery speed. 60. New England Patriots - OT Le'Raven Clark - Texas Tech Raw project, gamble on top athleticism. 61. New England Patriots (from Arizona) - WR Braxton Miller, Ohio St High upside former QB. 62. Carolina Panthers - DE Shilique Calhoun - Michigan St Another pass rusher to hopefully help alleviate loss of Norman. 63. Denver Broncos - I/OLB Deion Jones - LSU Lost Treviathan to free agency. Round 364. Tennessee Titans - OLB Kyler Fackrell - Utah St 65. Cleveland Browns - RB Devonte Booker - Utah 66. San Diego Chargers - DE Jihad Ward - Illinois 67. Dallas Cowboys - QB Dak Prescott - Mississippi St 68. San Francisco 49ers - ILB Josh Perry - Ohio St 69. Jacksonville Jaguars - DT/DE Sheldon Day - Notre Dame 70. Baltimore Ravens - CB/S Sean Davis - Maryland 71. New York Giants - WR Pharoah Cooper - South Carolina 72. Chicago Bears - CB Xavien Howard - Baylor 73. Miami Dolphins - CB Will Redmond - Mississippi St 74. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - S Justin Simmons - Boston College 75. Oakland Raiders - OT Shon Coleman - Auburn 76. Tennessee Titans (from LA) - OG Christian Westerman - Arizona St 77. Cleveland Browns (from Detroit through Philadelphia) - WR Leonte Carroo - Rutgers 78. New Orleans Saints - G Isaac Seumalo - Oregon St 79. Philadelphia Eagles - OLB/DE Jordan Jenkins - Georgia 80. Buffalo Bills - TE Austin Hooper - Stanford 81. Atlanta Falcons - S Miles Killebrew - Southern Utah 82. Indianapolis Colts - OLB Yannick Ngakoue - Maryland 83. New York Jets - CB KeiVarae Russell - Notre Dame 84. Washington Redskins - NT Hassan Ridgeway - Texas 85. Houston Texans - C/G Nick Martin - Notre Dame 86. Minnesota Vikings - OT Jerald Hawkins - LSU 87. Cincinnati Bengals - DE Carl Nassib - Penn St 88. Green Bay Packers - ILB Kentrell Brothers - Missouri 89. Pittsburgh Steelers NT/DT Javon Hargrave - South Carolina St Active interior defender, productive at a lower level of competition. Short arms, small hands a concern.
90. Seattle Seahawks - CB/S Jalen Mills - LSU -- Kansas City Chiefs - Forfeited Penalty for tampering in 2015 signing of Jeremy Maclin. 91. New England Patriots - DT Willie Henry - Michigan 92. Arizona Cardinals - ILB Scooby Wright - Arizona 93. Carolina Panthers - CB Ryan Smith - North Carolina Central 94. Denver Broncos - G/T Joe Dahl - Washington St 95. Detroit Lions (compensatory) - DE Charles Tapper - Oklahoma 96. New England Patriots (compensatory) - RB Kenneth Dixon - Louisiana Tech 97. Seattle Seahawks (compensatory) - OT Caleb Benenoch, UCLA 98. Denver Broncos (compensatory) - RB CJ Prosise - Notre Dame Day 34 123 Pittsburgh Steelers ILB Jatavis Brown - Akron Undersized. Sub-package coverage LB and special teams demon. Ran a 4.44 40 at pro day at 5'11", 227 lbs.
6 220 Pittsburgh Steelers (compensatory) OLB Romeo Okwara - Notre Dame Another defensive prospect. Nigerian native. Flew under the radar despite leading the Fighting Irish in tackles the last two seasons. Only 20. Has the long, broad shouldered build of a power forward. Major project.
7 229 Pittsburgh Steelers (from NY Giants) OT Stephane Nembot - Colorada Born in Cameroon. Impressive build with long arms, big hands. Recruited as defensive lineman. Moved to left side as Senior after playing on the right. Raw. Like Okwara a major project. Why not swing for the fences?
7 246 Pittsburgh Steelers WR Jalin Marshall - Ohio St High School QB. Came out for some reason as a redshirt sophomore. Relatively inexperienced at receiver. Quick, not fast. Probably limited by build to the slot. Has explosive athletic traits that make him worth a look.
