Smitter's Week Two Predictions

September 15, 2006 by Steel Smitter

Smitters Week 1 Picks:

Smitters Week 2 Picks:

Last week: 4-12 Overall: 4-1225.0%

FLGs last week:1-2 Overall 1-2 33.3%

Last week was not good at all, although if Arizona didnt let San Fran kick that late FG, I would have won that FLG. Something of note from last week the hone teams were 3-13 against the spread. Home dogs were 2-4, home favorites were 1-9. The Steelers were the only home favorite to cover. This week there are 5 games with pointspreads of 10 points or more. I quickly glanced at the last several years and couldnt find a week with as many.

Baltimore (-11 ) over Oakland Oakland may get shut out for the second week in a row. Playing on Monday Night and then flying east will give the Raiders fits, as if they needed something else to drag them down.

Indianapolis (-13 ) over Houston Both games these teams played last year were 10+ pointspread games, and I bet on Houston both times and lost. Not this year!

Cleveland (+ 10 ) over Cincinnati Not sure if I was impressed with Cincy last week, disappointed with KC, probably a little of both. I really dont think Cleveland is as bad as they showed last week, and Cincy starts looking ahead a week, enabling the Brownies to stay close.

Miami (- 6 ) over Buffalo Long week helps the Dolphins while the Bills disappointed in one that they should have won.

Detroit (+ 8 ) over Chicago I think Detroit showed last week that they will be improved. Not quite sure what to make of the Bears dismantling of Green Bay. I think this game stays close, maybe another 9-6 game.

Minnesota (+ 1 ) over Carolina Short week for Minnesota, but with (probably) no Steve Smith for Panthers, their offense will suffer again.

Philadelphia (- 3 ) over NY Giants Can there be a must win game in Week 2? Giants risk falling two games behind the Eagles already with a loss.

Tampa Bay (+ 5 ) over Atlanta Atlantas defense not as good as Baltimore, which will enable the Bucs to at least score a few. Defense always seems to play well against Vick.

New Orleans (- 2 ) over Green Bay The Saints possibly can win two games in a row on the road, and although the wins would be against the Browns and Packers, it is still two wins. I think the end is very near for Brett Favre, will be interesting to see how Packers management handles the situation.

San Francisco (+ 3 ) over St Louis So, does Alex Smith already have more TD passes this year than he did all of last year? Rams got to play on what is probably a very slow field in San Fran, which will enable the 49ers to pull out the win.

Arizona (+ 7 ) over Seattle Good early season test for the Cardinals. Was last weeks bad offensive showing by Seattle a one-time deal? Or, can they rebound against a Cards defense that didnt look too good last week.

New England (- 6 ) over NY Jets Even though the J-E-T-S won last week, they are still not in the class of the Patriots.

San Diego (- 11 ) over Tennessee Another game for Rivers to slowly get accustomed to life as a starting QB.

Denver (-10 ) over Kansas City Will KC even score this week? As bad as Denver looked last week, a home game against the now lowly Chiefs is just the medicine the Doctor ordered.

Washington (+ 6 ) over Dallas I dont think Dallas looked good last week, but neither did the Skins. These games are usually close, so 6 points seems like a lot.

Steelers (- 1 ) over Jacksonville The return of Big Ben sparks the Steelers. Look for Miller to come up big, and Porter to get a turnover.
