Smitters Week 13 Picks vs the spread

Last week:   6-10   Overall: 83-93   47.2%

FLGs last week: 1-2  FLGs overall: 18-18   50.0%

Ouch! First, my Thiel Tomcats lose in the 2nd round of the Div-III playoffs, then I lay another egg on my picks. It will be interesting to see what kind of shape Heinz Field is in this week. As bad as it probably is, from watching the last two weeks, there are several fields (KC, NE) that appear to be in at least as bad of shape as Heinz Field will be. Messy field, snow in the forecast, fired up Steelers fans

Pittsburgh (- 3 ) over Cincinnati Once again, the Bungals have a chance to prove themselves. Once again, they will fall short. The antics of Johnson sure isnt helping the Bengals cause. Stan Savran, on his radio show last night, had the Bengals radio announcer on, and as much as he was denying it, judging from the antics and comments from Bungal Land, the Bengals are uptight. Steelers take this one in a smashmouth game.

Buffalo (+ 3 ) over Miami Miami seems to be up one week, down the next. Two weeks ago they laid an egg in Cleveland, last week they beat Oakland. Time for a bad week.

Carolina (- 3 ) over Atlanta Atlanta has had the extra rest. But, at home, the Carolina defense will be up to the challenge.

Dallas (+ 3 ) over NY Giants Dallas has had the extra rest. NY Giants should have won last week. In a dogfight for NFC East supremecy, the Cowboys win.

Green Bay (+ 7 ) over Chicago Getting harder and harder to not pick the Bears with the way their defense is playing. While I dont think the Pack will win, I think they keep it close.

Baltimore (- 7 ) over Houston The Ravens have shown some life the last two weeks. Might be able to point some points on the board this week against the lowly Texans.

Jacksonville (- 2 ) over Cleveland Even without Leftwich, the Jaguars should win this game.

Minnesota (- 3 ) over Detroit The Vikings are on a roll, the Lions are in a serious state of disarray. How does Millen keep his job?

Tampa Bay (- 3 ) over New Orleans The Saints are back in Baton Rouge this week. Tampas defense is just too tough for the homeless Saints.

Tennessee (+ 15 ) over Indianapolis In the quest for a 16-0 season, the Colts have what seems like an easy game. Something tells me, though, that after a short week, the Titans can keep this one close.

Arizona (- 3 ) over San Francisco Alex Smith returns to the starting position this week. Neil Rackers may kick 5 or 6 FGs in this game, which is probably going to be an ugly affair.

St Louis (+ 3 ) over Washington Washington is in a tail spin. The Ivy-Leaguer leads the Rams to a win.

Kansas City (+ 1 ) over Denver KC is going to be too much at home against the Broncos. Jake Plummer is going to throw a few picks. KC gets back in the division race this week.

New England (- 10 ) over NY Jets Even with a field that is in as bad of shape as Gillette Stadium, and bad weather on the way, the Pats have too much for the lowly J-E-T-S.

San Diego (- 10 ) over Oakland San Diego will know the outcome of the Denver-KC game before taking the field Sunday night. They shouldnt need any additional motivation to crush the Raiders at home.

Seattle (- 3 ) over Philadelphia What is the over/under of how many times Madden/Michaels mention TO? Seattle continues their run towards home-field advantage in the NFC.

My First Look Goodies (FLG) for the week are:

Jacksonville (- 2 ) over Cleveland

Minnesota (- 3 ) over Detroit

Kansas City (+ 1 ) over Denver
