Smitter's Week Five Predictions

October 05, 2006 by Steel Smitter

Smitters Week 1 Picks:

Smitters Week 5Picks:

Last week: 6-8 Overall: 21-3935.0%

FLGs last week:0-3 Overall 4-833.3%

Home teams were 11-3 ATS last week; favorites were 6-2, and home dogs were 5-1. So far, home dogs are 14-9, and there is two home dogs this week.

Indianapolis (-18 ) over Tennessee Eighteen is a lot of points, pretty close to the record, I believe. Even though Indys second-string could win this game big, look for Peyton to pad his stats this weekend.

Washington (+ 4 ) over NY Giants The Redskins are coming off a big win last weekend, which could turn around their season. Giants have been itching to get back on the field following their big loss two weeks ago to the Seahawks. I think Washington keeps this game close.

Detroit (+ 6 ) over Minnesota The Vikings still got to be stung over losing to the Bills last week. Detroit showed it has an offense last week, this week the defense shows up long enough to send this to overtime.

New Orleans (- 6 ) over Tampa Bay New Orleans has a chance to go to 4-1. Tough assignment for Pittsburgh-area rookie QB Gradkowski for the Bucs.

Green Bay (+ 3 ) over St Louis For no other reason than the record of home underdogs so far this year.

Miami (+ 9 ) over New England A month ago this may have been looked at as an early season showdown for AFC East supremacy. New England looked good in dismantling the Bengals last week, but they will suffer a minor letdown and let the Dolphins stay close.

Buffalo (+11 ) over Chicago Lots of points. Chicago seems to have found an offense, and if they can continue to put points on the board, they could be scary. But, this week the offense will revert to 2005 form, allowing the Bills to stay close.

Carolina (- 8 ) over Cleveland Cleveland sucks, Carolina is playing better since Steve Smith returned.

NY Jets (+ 7 ) over Jacksonville Which Jax team is the real one? The one who beat the Stillers, or the one who lost to Washington? This week Im leaning towards the team I saw lose last week.

Arizona (+ 3 ) over Kansas City Another home team underdog. Kansas City cant possibly score 40 again, can they?

San Francisco (- 3 ) over Oakland San Fran sucks less than Oakland.

Philadelphia (- 2 ) over Dallas The TO Circus has less than an effect on Philly than Dallas. Next TO blowup prediction When he realizes that he is not the favorite target of Drew Bledsoe. Stay tuned.

Pittsburgh (+ 3 ) over San Diego Steelers are in basically a must win situation. Ben and Troy and Hines got a chance to rest and heal. Willie Reid will be returning punts, and the late night will be worth it, as the Stillers win by 10 or so.

Denver (- 3 ) over Baltimore Im still not sold on the Ravens, but 4-0 is 4-0. This will be one to keep the sound down as the ESPN announcers will spend the whole game sucking off Ray Lewis and McNair.
