Power Rankings (week 3)

September 28, 2016 by Steel Haven

Rnk LW* Team Record Comments
1. 1. New England Patriots 3-0 No Brady, no Garoppolo, no problem. Belichick, McDaniels and Patricia thoroughly out coached former colleagues O'Brien, Godsey and Crennel.
2. 3. Denver Broncos 3-0 Faith in Siemian being rewarded. Quite frankly right now he is better than Peyton last year, Osweiler any time in his career.
3. 7. Minnesota Vikings 3-0 Zimmer is a defensive wizard.
4. 8. Green Bay Packers 2-1 Head to bye off much needed big game from formerly scuffling Rodgers.
5. 11. Seattle Seahawks 2-1 Need to keep Wilson healthy.
6. 15. Philadelphia Eagles 3-0 Only 11th team to win their first 3 games each by 14 or more points in the current playoff format. The previous 10 all made the playoffs and 4 won the Super Bowl.
7. 2. Pittsburgh Steelers 2-1 Defense shredded for 25 first downs, 426 yards and 7.0 yard per play by a rookie QB. That flat out didn't happen when LeBeau was coordinator.
8. 14. Baltimore Ravens 3-0 Teams that win their first 3 games make the playoffs 76% of the time.
9. 12. Kansas City Chiefs 2-1 Defense forced 8 turnovers, picked off Fitzpatrick an almost unfathomable 6 times.
10. 4. Carolina Panthers 1-2 Somehow Benjamin held catch-less by Waynes, targeted only once all game.
11. 16. Dallas Cowboys 2-1 Ended 8 game home losing streak.
12. 5. Arizona Cardinals 1-2 Palmer was intercepted 4 times by a defense that the previous week couldn't turn over Fitzpatrick.
13. 9. Cincinnati Bengals 1-2 Dalton and 25th ranked scoring offense feeling the loss of Jones, Sanu and Eifert. At least Eifert will eventually be back.
14. 10. New York Giants 2-1 Beckham fastest in league history to 200 receptions accomplishing the feat in only 30 games.
15. 6. Houston Texans 2-1 Will be tough to overcome loss of Watt probably for the season to a re-aggravation of his back injury.
16. 18. Atlanta Falcons 2-1 Gained 442 yards spreading the ball around with Jones only having a single catch. Ryan rejuvenated, finally buying into Shanahan's offense.
17. 19. Oakland Raiders 2-1 Not ready to buy into pass defense improvements in Tennessee because of Mullarkey's conservative offense, lack of weapons at WR.
18. 23. Indianapolis Colts 1-2 A 63 yard TD pass to Hilton with under 2 minutes remaining may have saved their season.
19. 13. New York Jets 1-2 In retrospect the off season teeth gnashing in the NYC media and among their fan base surrounding resigning of Fitzpatrick were incredibly humorous. Looks like they will take a major step back in Bowles' second season. Have 4 QBs on the roster, none seem viable going forward.
20. 24. Washington Redskins 1-2 Outlasting Giants in the Meadowlands helps ease pain of first 2 games. This weeks visit from Browns should only makes things better.
21. 29. Los Angeles Rams 2-1 Scored 5 TDs last week in Tampa after scoring a grand total of 4 in the previous 4 weeks.
22. 17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-2 Koetter continues to prove he knows offense, unfortunately defense is a huge problem.
23. 31. Buffalo Bills 1-2 Extinguished the dumpster fire. Can they keep the Pats from going undefeated with Brady suspended?
24. 20. San Diego Chargers 1-2 Blew late leads in Kansas City and Indianapolis. Need to stay out of the midwest.
25. 26. Miami Dolphins 1-2 Not good to need OT to beat the Brownies at home. Even Gase might not be able to turn around Tannehill's career.
26. 21. Tennessee Titans 1-2 Basically threw away the season and a year of development by retaining interim head coach Mullarkey for this season.
27. 22. Detriot Lions 1-2 Lost despite Jones doing his best Megatron impersonation.
28. 25. Jacksonville Jaguars 0-3 Will they let Bradley on the plane back from London after this week's game against the Colts?
29. 27. New Orleans Saints 0-3 Uncompetative despite the emotional celebration of the 10th anniversary of reopening of the Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina. Need a total rebuild, time for Payton and Brees to move on.
30. 28. San Francisco 49ers 1-2 Could Kelly turn to Kaepernick? Gabbert simply does not have the skills to start.
31. 30. Chicago Bears 0-3 Can Howard step up in Langford's absence and provide a desperately needed big play threat to plodding, predictable offense?
32. 32. Cleveland Browns 0-3 Pryor had 144 yards receiving, 21 yards rushing and 35 yards passing in an all purpose role necessitated by injuries.
