Rnk | LW | Team | Record | Comments |
1. | 1. | San Diego Chargers | 9-2 | LT got into the endzone 2 more times and threw his sixth career touchdown pass for good measure. |
2. | 3. | Indianapolis Colts | 10-1 | Addai is proving to be a more than adequate replacement for James. |
3. | 4. | Baltimore Ravens | 9-2 | Deserve more respect than I have been giving them. |
4. | 6. | New England Patriots | 8-3 | Turned the ball over 5 times against the vaunted Bears defense and managed to win anyway thanks in large part to Grossman's ineptitude. Turnovers will be a much bigger issue against tougher AFC competition in the playoffs. |
5. | 2. | Chicago Bears | 9-2 | Lucky to be in the worst division of the worst conference. |
6. | 7. | Dallas Cowboys | 7-4 | Romo is on fire. His 5 touchdown passes on Thanksgiving tied Aikman's single game team record. |
7. | 9. | Seattle Seahawks | 7-4 | Holmgren joins Shula as the only 2 coaches to have won 70 or more games with 2 different franchises. |
8. | 12. | New Orleans Saints | 7-4 | Brees threw for 349 yards. His fifth straight 300 yard game. In that stretch he has a total of 1954 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Brees would have a legitimate case for MVP if it wasn't for LT. |
9. | 13. | Kansas City Chiefs | 7-4 | LJ carried them again in an important divisional win over the fading Broncos. |
10. | 5. | Denver Broncos | 7-4 | Cutler gets an opportunity to provide a spark after a second straight loss. Turning to a raw rookie in the midst of a playoff race is an act of desperation even if it is hard to envision Cutler playing as poorly as Plummer. |
11. | 14. | Cincinnati Bengals | 6-5 | Seem to have righted the ship. Getting into the playoffs will still not be easy. |
12. | 8. | Carolina Panthers | 6-5 | Maddeningly inconsistent. Have hope because they are in the NFC. |
13. | 15. | New York Jets | 6-5 | Possess the easiest remaining schedule of the teams vying for the AFC wildcards. |
14. | 10. | Jacksonville Jaguars | 6-5 | Letdown in Buffalo dealt their fading playoff hopes a severe blow. |
15. | 18. | Miami Dolphins | 5-6 | Winning streak at 4 games after Harrington's successful return to Detroit on Thanksgiving. |
16. | 11. | New York Giants | 6-5 | Became only the third team ever to blow a 21 point lead in the final 10 minutes of a game. Problems started when Burress gave up on a deep pass that was intecepted by Pacman. Burress made a rather lame attempt to tackle Jones at the beginning of the 26 yard runback. Then Walker was called on a late hit of Young out of bounds after a 7 yard gain on 4th and 9. Titans score. 21-7. Subsequent punt is returned 23 yards by Jones. Titans score in 6 plays. 21-14. Next punt gives the Titans the ball at their 24 with just under 3 minutes remaining. After 3 incompletions Kiwanuka has Young in his grasp but literally quits on the play. Young scrambles 19 yards for a first down. Kiwanuka apparently thought Young had thrown the ball and did not want to get a roughing penalty. Game is tied at 21 only 4 plays later. Manning then under pressure throws a horrible pick to Jones at mid-field with 32 seconds remaining. Bironas kicks a 49 yard field goal 3 plays later. Game over. Collapse complete. |
17. | 21. | Buffalo Bills | 5-6 | Losman is starting to come around. |
18. | 23. | Tennessee Titans | 4-7 | Young flashed the greatness that made him the first quarterback picked in the draft during a 24 point fourth quarter that erased a 21 point deficit against the reeling Giants. |
19. | 24. | Minnesota Vikings | 5-6 | Offense finally showing some life. Of course it was against the Cardinals. |
20. | 25. | St. Louis Rams | 5-6 | Ended their 5 game losing streak and immediately got back into the pathetic NFC playoff race. |
21. | 16. | Atlanta Falcons | 5-6 | Rushed for 281 yards against the Saints and still lost. Mora Sr. was right when he called Vick a coach killer. Mora Jr. could be dead at the end of the season. |
22. | 17. | Pittsburgh Steelers | 4-7 | Stick a fork in the defending Super Bowl Champions.... They're done. The debacle in Baltimore puts an end to any thought that they could put together a winning streak and sneak into the playoffs. A loss was understandable. The complete lack of effort by the supposedly prideful soon to be ex-Champions in a must win game was unfathomable. Cowher really does seem to have already retired. He should be embarrassed. So should everyone associated with the on the field performance. |
23. | 19. | San Fransisco 49ers | 5-6 | Upcoming road games in New Orleans, Seattle and Denver make the playoffs a long shot at best. |
24. | 20. | Philadelphia Eagles | 5-6 | Sunday night flex schedule didn't work out very well due to McNabb's injury. |
25. | 22. | Green Bay Packers | 4-7 | Favre is only 10 touchdown passes behind Marino and 12 interceptions behind Blanda for their respective all-time records. |
26. | 29. | Washington Redskins | 4-7 | Campbell remained calm despite not putting up big numbers and led an impressive comeback in Carolina. The question for the day. Why did Gibbs stick with Brunell for so long? |
27. | 26. | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 3-8 | Rumors are swirling that Gruden may not be back next season. |
28. | 27. | Cleveland Browns | 3-8 | Frye threw 4 interceptions to help give the Bengals their first shoutout victory since 1989. |
29. | 28. | Houston Texans | 3-8 | Lack of a running game continues to haunt them. |
30. | 30. | Arizona Cardinals | 2-9 | Green's return to Minnesota was not triumphant. Hard to lose when scoring on a 99 yard kick return and a 99 yard fumble recovery. At least Leinart's 405 passing yards along with Fitzgerald's 172 receving yards and Boldin's 140 receiving yards gives them hope for the future. |
31. | 31. | Oakland Raiders | 2-9 | Moss is seriously tarnishing his reputation with an obvious lack of effort. |
32. | 32. | Detriot Lions | 2-9 | Could Marinelli be one and done? Few coaches get fired after their first season. Hard to believe though that Millen can survive this disaster. A new GM might want to hire his own coach. |
