Smitter's Week Eight Predictions

October 26, 2006 by Steel Smitter

Smitters Week 1 Picks:

Smitters Week 8Picks:

Last week: 7-6 Overall: 42-5842.0%

FLGs last week:3-0 Overall9-1242.9%

Home underdogs went 5-2 last week, bringing the yearly total for home underdogs to 26-12, 68.4%. Meanwhile, home favorites are 30-32, 48.4%, for the year. This week brings only two home dogs, the Raiders and Minnesota against the Patriots.

Tennessee (- 3 ) over Houston Although Houston destroyed Jacksonville last week, Im not sure they can put together another good outing, on the road this time.

Jacksonville (+ 6 ) over Philadelphia Although the weather conditions in Philly this week call for cold and rain, not Jacksonville weather, the Jags will play the Eagles close.

Atlanta (+ 4 ) over Cincinnati If, indeed, the game against the Steelers was, as some perceive, a coming out party for the passer Michael Vick, then playing a soft run defense should enable Vick to pass for some decent yards after Dunn and Vick run for big yards.

NY Giants (- 9 ) over Tampa Bay Giants looked good against the Cowboys (oh, poor, poor TO). Tampa has now won two in a row with the Pittsburgh Kid as the QB. He wont make it three in a row.

San Francisco (+ 16 ) over Chicago Lots of points, even though the Bears look like the class of the NFC.

Green Bay (- 3 ) over Arizona Arizona may not win another game all year. Hard to pick the Packers, but this is more of a pick against the Cardinals than a pick for the Packers.

Kansas City (- 6 ) over Seattle Seattles offense is in disarray, with Hasselback and Alexander out of action. Seneca Wallace wont be able to move the ball.

New Orleans (- 2 ) over Baltimore Saints continue their surprising year. Ravens continue their losing streak, doesnt matter who is at QB.

St Louis (+ 9 ) over San Diego The Rams got to think they have a chance at the NFC West crown now that Seattle figures to struggle the next few weeks. Even though it is outdoors, playing in the warm of San Diego will enable the Rams offense to put some points on the board, at least enough to keep the game close.

Cleveland (- 2 ) over NY Jets Jets riding a two-game winning streak since their shellacking at the hands of Jax three weeks ago. But, I got a hunch that the Browns pull this game out at home.

Indianapolis (+ 2 ) over Denver Should be an entertaining game. Indy comes through in their first true test in a while.

Pittsburgh (- 9 ) over Oakland Hmmm, Ben may or may not play, Oakland is a huge home underdog, so all indications are that Oakland could win this one. Nope, Steelers rebound this week with a big win.

Carolina (- 5 ) over Dallas Tony Romo gets a rude awakening in his first NFL start. Carolinas defense will have a field day. TO will have more drops than catches.

Minnesota (+ 2 ) over New England I got to pick one of the two home underdogs this week. Minnesota played good last week, as did New England, but the home crowd spurs the Vikings to the win.
