Best Bets (plus two)

December 15, 2010 by Steel Haven

I started slowly on Thursday failing to cover by a single point in Tennessee. Then things went really sour on Sunday. So the good vibes of going undefeated two weeks ago were cancelled out with a winless week. If I picked games on Sunday morning I could have at least had a push. The Bucs had dropped to a one point favorite by them. Am I bitter? Of course, although it really doesn't have anything to do with my picks. I probably got what I deserved for using the Browns on the road as my best bet.

No games thrill me this week. And I am not too excited about even finishing this column since I am currently watching game 7 of the 1960 World Series. So I am going to keep this short. Just as an aside Bob Prince is so lucid and such a great announcer that it almost ruins my memories of his rambling ways when he was older. The Pirates are winning 4-0 in the 3rd with the Yankees on their third pitcher. This game would have been brutal to watch live knowing what unfolds. Until the euphoria of the sudden end.

Best Bet

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5.5) over Detriot Lions

Bucs failed to cover for me last week despite winning. They usually play close games. But the Lions are so much better at home than on the road.

Others

Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5) over Cleveland Browns

For some reason I think the Bengals are due.

Oakland Raiders (-6.5) over Denver Broncos

Not sure how the Raiders will react to last week's tough loss that basically knocked them out of playoff consideration. But the Broncos suck. Especially on the road.

Last Week

Cleveland Browns (+1.0) over Buffalo Bills LOSS

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) over Washington Redskins LOSS

Indianapolis Colts (-3.0) over Tennessee Titans LOSS

Year to date: 21-19-2   Best bets: 7-6-1
