Hard Hat Award (Game #8, @ NYG)
Stiller RB Isaac Redman is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
Starting in place of the injured Dwyer and Mendenhall, RedMan had a very strong effort in the win over the G’ints. Right from the get-go, he rumbled over and thru the vaunted GMen defense. On hhis first carry, from the PIT 1, he gained 11 yards up a tiny crack up the gut. Ike had a clutch grab on a valve dump, 3d & 1, and gained 4 in the 2nd series. Literally bowled over Kiwanuka on a 4-yard gain in the 2nd series. Good run on draw play, late 1Q, good for 17. Good plowing run for 7 yards, 2nd play of 2Q. He followed that up with a strong 6 yard gain to set up and 1 & G at the NY 6. Good 11-yard run, 2Q. Somehow gained 3 out of nothing and after eluding 2 tacklers at 9:16 4Q. Clutch rumbling run on 3d & 2 at the NY 9, busting a tackle near the LOS and gaining 8. Two plays later, he followed that up with a strong, churning TD run, displaying good 2nd and 3rd effort. This TD gave the Stillers a 24-20 lead. Red ripped off a big run for 28 yards late in th 4Q to salt the game away. This effort, my friends, was Hard Hat football at its finest.
Also in consideration was FB Will Johnson, who has a truly outstanding game with smash mouth blocking; the O-line with a good overall effort, and CB Keenan Lewis. Kudos to Redman for winning the Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Ike ! Previous 2012 Hard Hatters
